Sinus infection Help!

Hi! I am prone to allergy induced asthma and take a singular every night. I felt horrible last night and woke up with a terrible sinus infection. My eyes burn and I have been using a nasal relief spray. The doctor three weeks ago gave me antibiotics and now my infection is back. I scheduled a doctor appointment, but get nervous taking medication because I don't want it to affect the baby. I am 20 weeks pregnant today. Any feedback and opinions would help.

Antibiotics are fine. I had a sinus infection and was on amoxicillin the week I got my BFP. I had another one last week and my OB gave me a z pack. Some medications aren't safe but your OB will for sure know which ones are okay.

ETA: assuming you see your OB and not PCP. My PCP won't do anything without the OB's blessing and my OB office just prefers to handle all ailments I have while pregnant and refer me out of needed. Just today they sent me for a gallbladder u/s. I feel better having them handle everything anyway since they are more familiar with pregnancy than my PCP

Not all sinus infections are bacteria related, so antibiotics won't work if you are dealing with a virus

Yeah I'm there with you. I've had sinus pain probably infection for over 2 months. I was hoping it would go away on its own b/c I do hate taking medication while pregnant but I think I'm going to ask OB for something next week when I see her since I am miserable today. I was given a z-pak when pregnant with DS and had a sinus infection.

I had a sinus infection and took a nasal spray (flonase) for about two weeks. I am allergic to most antibiotics, otherwise I would have taken one. I am feeling much better and am back to my normal allergy/asthma self

It's hard to be excited about baby while sick! I'm looking forward to feeling a bit better.
