Maybe a really stupid question about the boards…...

Ok its actually 2 questions.

1. Im clueless thats for sure….. but I know some of the abbreviations but some of them i do not. I know there is a list somewhere, and for the life of me i can not find it. 

2. Some threads read *warning* and warn of what they mention. (BFP for example) When should this be used and what would be the reason…..I want to make sure Im going about these boards the right way and getting along with all you lovely ladies.

Hi.
There is a glossary it used to be on the main sight all the way on the bottom left. I don't know if it's still there because I usually mobile bump. If it's not there try looking at the top of some of the other boards. Sometimes they make a list for the newbies. Or you just ask us what something means and we will tell you.
Your second question is really specific to each board. A warning is put in the title when a pregnancy, loss or children are in the body of the post. This gives the possible reader the option to skip the post if they are not up to reading about any of those things.
In our board you can post pretty much whatever you need to ( with warnings or without). I think because we are all older and have been through so much there isn't much that "offends" or bothers us so the warnings aren't very necessary here.
That being said if you are looking to join other boards you MUST get a feel for the board before you join. Read a week or so of old posts or just lurk and read others posts for a while. See what topics are ok to discuss and what gets frowned upon. See where they use warnings. And read the blogs if the board has one. That will give you the "rules" of the board.
When you are ready to join a new board do an intro post so the others get to know you a little and start giving and getting support.

@Hooligans4 is right on.  There are definitely varying cultures on each of the boards. I find this board to be the most supportive and forgiving if you don't follow board "etiquette", though.

This board is very forgiving but it still ALWAYS appropriate to give a warning specifically a BFP warning ( a positive test)  and a loss warning ( miscarriage).  While this is expected on other boards and not so much on this one it is the kind thing to do since many women on our baord have suffered losses recently and many are going through fertility treatments.

The Trying to Get Pregnant board has a sticky post at the top, and in that thread is a link to a newbie blog that has all of the acronyms and some other useful information. I play over there sometimes because it's a more active board, but sometimes the immaturity and snarkiness gets old. This is a much more mature group overall :-)

Ok I think I understand. Thank you! I can guess that it would be hard to see someones joyous announcement when maybe there have been issues or just no success for a long time…..i can be understanding of that.

Snark on the boards huh???? So is it as bad as on the regular KNOT long ago??? I was never a target but i often felt like there was some joy in (maybe this is a strong word) being bullies and ganging up on come persons…it happens in real life of course it would happen on the boards.

On some boards, there is joy in being a bully.  For example, in the TTC board, if a newbie posts an HPT and asks if there is a positive line, people are going to be mean--really mean.  I get it.  I'm totally jealous of positive HPTs right now.  However, the meanness is still shocking to me.

FYI--I'm skipping over any posts with a BFP warning right now.  However, to be honest, even seeing that warning is making me crazy!!!!!

ok so it is in order to save oneself  from a little bit of that feeling of, well i don't want to really call it jealousy…..its not REALLY that is it. I mean TTC can be so trying when it takes long. Im sure it wears on you. I totally get it. Im glad to know this. So would someone get completely flames for not warning?

It's not really jealousy.  I'm happy for the person, but sad for myself...
