Eve and Eva are both equally cute but I think if she were named either of these it would make more sense to just call her Eve or Eva instead of Evy/Evie since it doesn't shorten it at all.
More contemporary would be Everly. When I see this name all I see is made up name meets Beverly. But apparently some people like it.
Evelyn is a lovely name though and the most obvious choice to get Evy/Evie.
I like Evie with Eve. I know it's nonsensical because it adds a syllable, so it'd be more a NN in the endearing category than the shortening category. This way too she has something short to use when she wants something more serious sounding than cute sounding
