Help! DS won't take his morning bottle from the babysitter.

Today was her first full day watching DS and I got a phone call at work from her this morning saying that whenever she tries to give him a bottle, he freaks out and starts crying.  I know he's okay with taking a bottle because I give it to him sometimes and so does DH. But DH mentioned that sometimes he also has difficulty giving DS the first bottle of the morning.

By the time his second feed comes around, he'll take the bottle with no problems.

What is it about that first morning feed that makes him flip out like that?  I felt so helpless because I didn't really have any good advice for her (when I'm home, I just BF...so I don't really face these issues).

  • only thing that comes to mind is maybe wearing a sweater around the house (or jacket, sweatshirt, etc) and drop it off with him in the morning. She can slip it on for that first feed & your smell will comfort him. GL!

  • Maybe you need to start feeding him his first morning bottle so he gets used to his routine. I'm sure it will get better as the time goes with the sitter.

  • I'm already at work when he wakes up for that feed :(
