Shoot.. I eat cold deli sandwiches..usually followed by frozen yogurt out of a machine.. sometimes (um all the time) I eat soft cheeses (fyi like 99.999999% of these are going to be pasteurized if you live in the US), bagged lettuce always.. Am I going to give birth to a dinosaur now?! If yes, is it a boy dinosaur or a girl dinosaur? I know you can tell just by looking at my name so go ahead and let me know. And please, please please, only nice responses.
Wow just reading the title of this post has my mouth watering for a turkey sandwich..... but I already had lunch and second lunch today so I should probably wait...
Mmmmmm steak...... I love mine rare to medium rare.... Just warm that baby up for me!
I prefer my steak still mooing, and I gave that up as quickly as I gave up my roast beef sandwiches. Maybe I will get lucky and birth a calf.
February Siggy Challenge - Picture of You and DH. Us with our engagement pumpkins. DH carved each word of "Will You Marry Me" and the date 10/11/12 into five dfferent pumpkins.
I'm not sure I should be having any sort of blood thinner at this point but I REALLY miss getting a good woodchuck buzz. Those sneak up on you and get you good.
I've never had one (flame away), but want one. I usually shy away from bottled alcohol because it reminds me of beer. Does it have any taste of beer in it?
No! It tastes like apple cider. Hence the reason the buzz sneaks up on you. You're chugging along on your apple cider and then all of the sudden you're talking in cursive.
Yes, it's a hard cider. You can almost always get it at a bar, but if you ask for it and they say they don't have it but they do have angry orchard take it!
I have not had that. I will look for it though! I had tried leinenkugel (I'm sure I spelled that wrong) blackberry summer shandy...it was not good and I was seriously disappointed.
Then have a turkey sandwich. The obgyn said this week that it's fine to have lunch meat. She said there was one major listeria outbreak years ago and everyone has held on to that as the primary reason to avoid it and the risk is very very low. She said simply avoid alcohol because no one knows where to draw the line in the sand between healthful benefit and potential harm to the fetus.
Thank you for posting this! I have been refraining due to my dr's and my DH. He's been nuts about it. However, I have been craving a hard salami sandwich and I would hate it heated up. I may just get one tonight! I will still limit how much, but for the sheer fact I can have one is enough to make me dance!
So I had an Italian hoagie for dinner and all this talk about Woodchuck is killing me. And what I wouldn't so for a mike's hard limeaid. Oh and Bud light lime-a-Rita's had the audacity to come out with a cran-ber-Rita while I'm pregnant. I had a sip of that and told DH to sneak it in the hospital. (
I would also like to add I was drinking shipyard pumpkin ale with a shot of vanilla vodka and a cinnamon rim the night before I found out I was pregnant. That's the last alcohol I've had. If I close my eyes I can still taste it.

I'm more of an Aces Pear Cider kind of girl... that stuff is so good!
I would love a turkey sandwich. With a bottle of champagne. I am craving champagne like a mad person. turkey sandwich for lunch... Now champagne, maybe I can get my husband to open a bottle so I can have a glass?!?!
Confession time: I've repeatedly hard cured meats (salami, proscuitto, etc) and soft cheeses. What, I'm Italian. I had a glass of wine last week and I'm pretty sure I was enjoying it so much/ making it last, it didn't even raise my BAC. I have no problem sipping my SO beers. My personality wants what I can't have so I have been craving all of the above.
Oh, and I have had raw sushi. It was effing amazing.
I stopped eating deli meat way before I got pregnant. Too much crap in there anyway, bacteria or not and I really haven't been craving sandwhiches. Although I did have a tuna one from subway yesterday.
I'd get some organic turkey or ham from Whole Foods if I was really dying for some.
My issue with lunch meats are the nitrates, I don't worry about the listeria risk because its far higher in vegetables and fruits anyway. Just use common sense, heat it up if you want NBD.
Trader Joe's has nitrate free hot dogs and deli meats!!!
Not sure what the stats are for 2013, but I did some research when I was pregnant with my son. The year before I had him, TWO pregnant women died from Listeria. TWO! And as other posters have mentioned, nothing says that they contracted it from lunch meat. I say go ahead and enjoy!
@SNLT1012 I have never had one of these Woodchuck's either..is it a hard cider? Have you ever had foxbarrel blackberry pear cider? Yum..
I love the Foxbarrel drinks! Personally I like the plain pear one the best. To me it has more flavor than the Blackberry Pear one. I had just discovered them about a month before getting KU'd.
Um, excuse me, but I think you meant to say Jimmy John's.
You are all wrong.... Firehouse Subs is better than ALL of these. I would eat one every day if there was one near me. I settle for Subway because my town sucks and that's all there is here.

I very rarely eat sandwiches, even though I crave them. It's a personal choice every woman makes. I also wiped out all caffeine. To me, having lost a child, it just doesn't make sense to risk stuff unnecessarily, even if the chances of something happening are slim to none.

Yessssss firehouse subs for the win!
Edit: quote fail
1. Firehouse (I miss this place since moving back north)
2. Jimmy Johns
3. Hungry Hobo (pretty sure this is only a Quad City area thing...and one in Des Moines)
4. Quiznos
5. Subway (this will always drop to last on my list)!
@SNLT1012, thank you for introducing the phrase "talking in cursive" to my lexicon!!!!
After all this talk about sandwiches, I think I just decided that Firehouse is my go-to for lunch today. Heck, I might even go crazy and have a glass of white wine with dinner tonight too!
I was coming on here to post about my excitement over DH going out to get us an American hoagie (from Durham Deli, the best!) and the first thing I see are beer posts! Now my excitement has been replaced by a craving for some good ol' craft beer.
I'm a 20 week pregnant neonatal intensive care RN. Be sarcastic if you want but I see beautiful term babies die AFTER birth from contamination their mothers came across during pregnancy. Eat at your own baby's risk. Not worth it to me.
