STM or TTM: Tubal?

Who is getting a tubal after this pregnancy?

MH and I have discussed me getting my tubes tied after my RCS. This is our second child, and I turned 35 in October. I feel like I'm done having kids with just two because of my age, but there's this nagging doubt in my head and I'm dragging my feet on deciding to have it done. This pregnancy has been good (36 weeks on Thursday) and really no complications. A lot more aches and pains than with the first. Who knew 2.5 years could make you feel that much older!

Thoughts?

Re: STM or TTM: Tubal?

  • While I'm not in a place where I'd consider getting a tubal, I think generally speaking if you're feeling doubts about it wait.  It's a pretty permanent decision, so I'd want to be sure.

  • I'm having one but I am also 100% sure about it. I was like you with my second and couldn't do it then. Once #2 was about 1, DH was supposed to have a V but never did... Here we are ;-). We are excited but we are SURE we are done. My body is revolting and I don't think I can ever do it again. At least not safely. My Ob has confirmed that this should be my last. I'm actually looking forward to it this time so I'm glad I didn't do it last time b/c I'm sure I would have wondered what if.

  • Because of what's happened in our past with our son (and knowing mother's that have lost their babies and cannot afford a reversal, therefore no more babies for them) I don't plan on a tubal or vasectomy for DH until at least a year after our last baby is born.
