So, I just hop on Facebook and see one of my childless IRL friends share a status update about the fisher price seahorse from a former A12 bumpie! I can't remember her screen name for the life of me, Gio's mom. So crazy. I guess her status has been shared over 4,000 times. So weird to see her name out of context.

What's wrong with the seahorse? We've had ours for 6 years with no problems.

MOMS! Another mom I know had this issue a few months ago and it just happened to us, so I thought I'd spread the word since Fisher Price has been contacted by many moms (there are complaints ALL over the internet) about this issue and there has NOT been a recall, as there obviously should be.

We put Gio down to bed at 9pm. His seahorse laid dormant in the corner of his crib until 12am when Sergio remembered the batteries needed to be changed. Upon putting new batteries in, the battery compartment began to SMOKE. He took them out, waited about 10 minutes, and tried again...the coil turned bright red, smoked, and melted. Thank GOD something told Sergio to get this thing out of Gio's crib or God only knows what would have happened the next time he rolled over to turn it on.

There are multiple complaints on the actual FP site, in Amazon reviews, and all over forums on the internet about the same thing happening to over 50 moms just in the Amazon reviews alone (and quite a few of them smelled the plastic burning, and it was literally smoking...in the crib...next to their kid!). This definitely needs to be shared until FP does something about this! We will NOT be replacing this thing and there is an obvious issue here. SHARE SHARE SHARE!

I just shared this on fb... does anyone know off hand if she had rechargeable batteries? not that it makes a difference to me but a friend mentioned the issue only happening with rechargeable batteries... to me i don't care what makes it happen it is WRONG! but I was just wondering so I could tell them.

That happened to me. Her stat was shared on my local mom's group and people were like oh well. Then I said it happened to me and it was like woah it actually happens??? Duh.
