1st Trimester

pcos & no meds TTC #3

I was extremely irregular as a teenager & again after stopping BC to TTC#1. I had to take clomid for both my pregnancies, increasing the dose with #2. A few months after I stopped BFing DD#2 my cycle returned & continued about every 5wks throughout 2013 (amazing 4 me).

When we decided to get serious about TTC#3, I figured despite my new regular cycle, no way would I get that lucky. Low & behold it happened quickly. Grateful to skip the meds this time (and avoid hot flashes).

I guess our bodies really can be different throughout our lives. Now I'm hoping this more typical hormonal state will make BFing easier this time around too. With DD#2 I could barely produce 1/2 of what she needed. Frustrating & heartbreaking.

Re: pcos & no meds TTC #3

  • Glad to hear you were able to get pg w/o meds! I am only 4 weeks but got my bfp on a letrozole IUI cycle. I was dx with PCOS this past May. I didn't respond at all to clomid. Your story gives me some hope that we won't always need medical intervention. My mom had my twin brother and I on a clomid cycle and then had 6 more successful pregnancies without any help! Good luck!!

  • I didn't mean to imply the meds effected my supply just that my body is in a different place than with DD #1&#2 so I'm hoping it'll b easier. But of course there are many reasons for supply issues. I've already contacted lactation consultant to see if there are any measures to be taken during pregnancy. She told me to keep an eye on breast changes throughout & possibly take some herbal supplements towards the end if it seemed that I wasn't seeing much development.
