insomnia

Wtf. LO is sleeping great right now, its the middle of the night, I'm exhausted, but WIDE AWAKE. Get to sleep while you can, stupid body! Who's awake?

Re: insomnia

  • 3 am here. Pumping while LO and DH sleep peacefully. I'm so exhausted. She'll probably wake up once I settle back down too.
    Welcome Lily Anna!

  • Ah. I spoke too soon. I can hear her starting to stir. @thesportsgal I read your rule comment about baby sleeping well too late! Lol. At least I'm already up. @cash, I hate that! @aundrea hope you are doing ok
  • LO considered sleep after his diaper change, then must have decided it was rude to snub the second boob. So no sleep for me.

  • DH has gone back to work today. He was amazing and brought absolutely anything I may need into the bedroom for me. 1 hours down, 11 to go. I can do this!
  • Yah, I've only gotten 45 min of sleep because my brain would not shut off long enough for me to sleep. Ok if LO is starting to sleep better, brain that means we sleep better too. Got it??! Ugh

  • Trying to get lo to sleep so I can pump. Dh is sleeping through his shift and I feel too badly to wake him up
  • No insomnia here, in fact I'm sure I could sleep for days. DH is fuckig snoring and decided to let our 8 year old sleep with us who had to bring her dog. She is positioned so that when I lay Down to feed the baby she almost kicks her, so I have had to stay awake to ensure her feet stay away from the baby. And to keep kicking DH and telling him to roll over, god I wish he would just go to the couch.
I have a full day today with 3 softball games a hour away.
    And on feeding #3.
  • I'm up nursing. LO has been sleeping well only waking up for feelings. I haven't slept though since I'm worried about going back to work. I was gone for 4 hrs this AM and LO wouldn't calm down AT ALL for DH. He didn't know what to do. When I got home she wouldn't let go of my boob. We even napped for 2 hrs while she hugged my bare breast. I want to cry. I go back to work on Monday. @cashingn2 idk how you did it.

  • So I've come to realize it's around 4-5am that I have the hardest time waking up. DD is eating about every 2-3hrs. I didn't have too much of a problem with it until this feeding tonight. I just started using an app to track everything and I did not notice I was feeding that often! Most nights I look at the clock each time she wakes up, but I'm always too tired to remember any times in the morning.
I really hope she starts sleeping longer before I go back to work.

  • Just remembered the dream I woke up from. It was really weird and filled with sex and people that were supposed to be celebrities. Oh! DD stood up on her own in my dream too! It was for a quick second and I was so surprised since she wasn't even able to sit up on her own yet.

  • @sventurarn Sometimes I don't even like to THINK it...LO is definitely winning this game. Oh well. ;)

  • I'm up for feeding 2. Just had a dream I was pregnant again!! Yikes. Makes me involuntarily close my legs just thinking about it!
LO only took half a bottle and fell back to sleep. I hate when she does this!

  • I should have been up 1.5 hours ago...but apparently LO loves the new white noise machine I downloaded and she kept right on sleeping, despite sleeping and eating a ton during the day, and I didn't hear my alarm. My aching boobs were my alarm...! And LO slept soundly for almost 5 hours. Ahhhh glorious! Except the aching boobs part...I pumped at her last feeding so...yeah, ouch.

Up nursing. Cried for the first time when he latched. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I try to make sure his mouth is open as wide as possible but it still hurts like a mother fukker. :(( right side feels fine, left side burns like he is sucking with a branding iron.

  • I'm up trying to hold LO upright for a bit before putting her back to bed so she hopefully won't spit up!
  • I am going to move the baby into his own room starting tomorrow when DH installs the monitor. I cannot deal with all the grunts, snorts snd fussing any more. Agh. He just went 3 1/2 hours between feedings but he's so loud I can't get good sleep.

  • I woke up at 3:45 and started to get up and ready to do the change/feed cycle. Then I realized LO was still sleeping and it had only been an hour since I'd gone back to sleep. So I told my boobs to shut up and let me sleep.

Thats how I was until I finally called a lactation consultant. I was letting LO just latch and I didn't know I had to make sure she had more of my aerola, not just my nipple. Have you called one yet? I knew I had to because I wanted to continue to BF but couldn't if I cried everytime she latched on. I still have to try a few times every feeding to get LO to latch good, it's not easy.

  • LO has been up every 2 hours to eat tonight, it's sucked. She's been doing ateast 3 but usually 4-5 hours so my body is hating this 2 hour wake up call, I'm struggling.

  • Well I suppose I had it coming. LO has not been able to sleep since. Now that I am actually tired. Sleep when the baby sleeps. Pfft. I wish!

  • @MBMO2 -- yep, I have seen a LC 3 times now (she is a nurse at my pedi office). She had me on an Rx cream to heal my left nip and it was better for a couple days but now hurts again. So frustrating!

  • My kid will not sleep anywhere but in my arms. I am going to lose my mind in the near future. I need sleep.
  • @boothbaby Have you tried a nipple shield?

Ugh I'm so sorry. That is awful, I hope it feels better soon, I know how much it kills!

@thesportsgal -- no, haven't tried a shield. To be honest, the idea scares me bc I keep reading on here about ladies who use it and then can't stop using it, or it causes more issues. :/

I am up feeding again, left side this time. I made sure to shove as much boob as I could into LO's mouth, and its a bit better. Not pain free, but certainly tolerable. If the pain continues, I will def call the LC again.

  • @boothbaby Well from what I read, they're not as bad as they used to be. They used to be made out of a thicker material than the thin silicone they're made out of now. I've used one for 5 weeks, have had no supply issues and have enjoyed breastfeeding since week one. Some people think they're a pain but I think they're worth it (for me). When I talked to a LC and her pedi about it they said "if it's not broke don't fix it!" And she might stop using it or might not and I'm fine with that either way. Anyways, it might help if you want to :)
