2nd Trimester

Bleeding a little with mild cramps, normal in second T?

Hi, i'm 13W6d pregnant today and i had just found out some brownish blood in my underwear, nothing when i wipe, but am having mild cramps. I have had a really long day at work and wasnt super dehydrated but is it normal for that to happen in ur second T and beyond?.

I had found a. Trace of blood at 8-9 weeks pregnant after a 2 hour flight and at our 12 weeks check the baby was fine. Today however it isnt a spot nor a trace its more of a stain but wouldnt fill a pad.

  • Call the ER or Labor and delivery. They are around 24/7 and will know what to do.

  • I agree with calling doc or ER. Right at week 12, I actually had some serious bleeding. As in soaked through my underwear and jeans. This was terrifying. I immediately went to the ER and after several anxious hours, they did an ultrasound and baby was fine. They had me do bed rest for three days and then I had a follow-up with my ob, and again baby was fine. However, I spotted for the next several days. Following that I too had the same kind of discharge you are talking about. Since then it has stopped. But I understand your fear -- I was absolutely terrified that I was losing the baby even though everyone said I was past the critical point. But they also said that is why bleeding in second tri is more alarming than in first. The explanations I was given were capillaries in the cervix or my placenta got a tear (clearly these are not the actual medical descriptions). In either case, I just share my story so you know that most often at this point, you will be fine so you don't worry too much, but nevertheless, I agree with the other posters, contact the doc immediately any time you have bleeding. What they told me is that if you start bleeding through several pads in an hour, then thats when theres a serious problem. Hope that helps and fingers crossed that everything is fine for you!

  • finally managed to go get checked and the baby, placenta, and birth canal are all ok and intact. Thank God all is good. health care centers here suck, I called so many places to try and squeeze in everybody was booked for like a month and the ER wouldn't have taken me or at least would have let me wait all day/evening until I get seen by a resident. I went to my regular clinic, my ob wasn't there so the Gyni took a look and then the ultrasound specialist checked me and all was A-Ok I have an appointment with my OB in about a week at 16 weeks to go get checked.

    thank you ladies
