I suppose this is more of a GTKY. I think we tried it once before and people posted facts about random stuff but I think it would be fun to post facts about ourselves. So, tell me 5 interesting, surprising or unique facts about yourself! This post is inspired by the one where you were supposed to talk about your quirks or food quirks or something. So, the more bizarre the better.
Re: 5 Facts
Yesss I love these!
1. I am adopted. I have never met my birth parents and won't seek them out, but would be ok with meeting my birth mother if she reached out to me.
2. I was the #1 female shot-putter on my high school track team.
3. I went to dinner with the editor in chief of the Esquire magazine website while in college and he tried to pick me up. It was awkward.
4. I am afraid of birds; especially larger ones like geese, swans, cranes, ostriches, etc.
5. I can't stand New York City and get annoyed whenever I tell people I'm from New York and they assume I am from there. NY is a HUGE state, people. I am from the good part - where there's mountains and lakes and stuff.

I have had my bellybutton pierced for nearly twenty years. This makes me feel old. DH was probably in grade school when I had it done-ha!I have been in Disney's Club 33. People make a huge deal but I thought it was pretentious and much ado about nothing.
I got to fly on a private plane a few months ago. I shoved all the snacks into my purse. Tacky and proud!Twice I have been traveling internationally and almost died. The last thought that ran through my mind both times was, 'I wonder if my parents will make some news show like Dateline or 20/20 do a show about young people traveling abroad.' Nevermind reasonable thoughts like, 'Save me Jesus!' or Who will get my dog?'
My husband is almost 3 years younger! Also, I got a tramp stamp when I was 16 - that definitely makes me feel old!
2. Same as my eyebrows, my eyelashes are also different colors.
3. I have natural, almost orange streaks in my hair on the "blonde" side of my head which make my hair look red.
4. I've been in school for eight years and will have two bachelor's degrees when I'm done this May - one in nursing and the other in forensic science.
5. I love watching trashy, reality TV much to my DH's dismay haha
I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.
2. Before I had any children I wanted 2. Then I had my son and wanted 5. This pregnancy is number 2 so it will be interesting to see if things change
3. Even with all my career and educational aspirations, I don't plan on working until all my children are in school (as long as this continues to be financially responsible for my family)
4. I used to be an incredibly picky eater, my dh has slowly gotten me to eat a lot of foods I never would eat before, one of which is pulled pork sandwiches, which I now think are one of the greatest things ever.
5. (This was a lot harder than I thought it would be!) I am closer to my best friend than any of my 3 sisters.
Pipsqueak born 6/9/14
2) I was chunky growing up so most boys were never interested in me. I didn't like those that were and everyone always told me I was being too picky. I told them I would someday find one amazing man and that would be it for me. At 20 I met DH and he was "it." I'm so happy I was "picky."
3) I dvr Gilmore Girls and Friends even though I've already seen every episode of both!
4) I originally wanted to be a lawyer but had a serious change of heart my senior year in college and decided I wanted to be a teacher. I finished my BA and went on to get my masters in education and have never regretted it a day in my life. Teaching makes me smile!
5) I am hardcore falling in love with maternity clothes- I can't see wanting to go back to regular post baby!
Also- I love this thread
2) I have moved 10 times since 2007. Most of them were due to a nasty divorce/domestic violence issues. I never ever want to move again.
3. At least once a year I type in my head cold symptoms to web md and get myself worked up about a deadly or illness (tuberculosis, cancer, probably leprosy at some point).
4) I like learning languages but can't remember them. I spoke French and Spanish almost fluently in high school and college (and even visited different countries to practice) and now I can only really understand them.
5) I used to teach sailing lessons, and once almost died from getting smacked in the head and concussed. I haven't sailed since then, it freaks me out too much.
2 - I have run 2 marathons and a handful of halfs. A herniated disk and then becoming a mom has derailed me the last few years but I desperately want to get back into running long distances.
3 - I have never had a cavity and my dentist told me I have the most perfect teeth he has seen except for his roommate in college who had perfect teeth without having braces.
4 - I also would give anything to pick up and move out of the country even for a year or two. I now have a job at a world wide company where this would be possible and H has a job that he can do almost anywhere although for very low pay (rowing coach). Meanwhile my sister and BIL will be moving to Ethiopia for 2 years with their kids as missionaries and I am a little jealous I don't have the guys to do that.
5 - I won't let 'fat' be said in my house. If I am reading a book to DD with that word I will replace it with 'big' or something similar. I've had weight issues my whole life and got made fun of including name calling as a small child and hate that word more than anything.
2. I have a birthmark on my stomach that looks like an upside-down shark fin.
3. I have to keep my toes painted year-round.
4. I am a true Scorpio.
5. When I was a kid, I dreamed of being a pediatric cardiologist.
1. I am the product of IVF. My mom had an ectopic pregnancy with twins, and one of her fallopian tubes shattered so they had to use good ol' science to get me. My dad calls me the most expensive bet he's ever placed. I just tell him I've been expensive from day one!
2. I'm an only child and I love it. I would be ok with only having one child, but DH doesn't want to deal with the "only child" syndrome...whatever, I turned out just fine.
3. The first time DH asked me out, I totally rejected him. He spent the next 6 months being kind of a jerk, so naturally, I went for him. His plan worked, but he is one of the sweetest, most caring men I have ever known.
4. There are only a handful of people in life that I care about more than my dog. I love, love, love that little puppy. She was a surprise present for my 21st birthday (not super responsible) but we have been so attached since day one.
5. I have known how to ski almost as long as I have known how to walk. My mom was a collegiate ski racer, and skied until she was 8 months pregnant with me (not typically advised, but she was pretty much a bad ass), and the first time she took me skiing, I was almost two and she kept me on one of the ski harnesses. Sadly, I was way better skier at age 10 than I am now, because we went skiing every single weekend while I was growing up. Now, I go 5 times a year at best. Can't wait to teach our kids to ski!
1) DH and I have a master list of bands/concerts we want to see, including people we would fly anywhere in the world for (me: David Bowie, him: Pink Floyd). We’ve amassed a fairly awesome set of experiences at this point.
2) I’m a die hard Texas Rangers (baseball) fan. Like season tickets, follow trade rumors on twitter, and go to Spring Training kind of crazy.
3) We tried for ~three years for this little one and put our plans on hold when I got into business school. DH loves to tell the story of when I walked into our kitchen during my break and said “This thing says I’m pregnant?”
4) I love to travel! My favorite experiences include walking through the Churchill War Rooms in London with my Grandpa (who was in WWII) and swimming with Whale Sharks!
5) I’m an introvert in an extrovert’s body. People rate me as incredibly outgoing, but in reality, I show up late to business functions to avoid small talk with strangers and I like to think by myself.
1) I've lost count of how many jobs I've had. I had to submit a 10 year work history once and it was 5 pages long. Most notable jobs include: EMT, Makeup Artist, Flight Attendant, Paralegal.
2) I have an irrational fear that I won't find my baby as cute as I did my dogs when they were puppies.
3) I was bullied...a lot... in school. I think it helped me to develop my sarcastic sense of humor. Also, it probably had a lot to do with my unresolved anger issues.
4) I cannot eat just one fruit rollup. I eat one, and then I eat all the fruit rollups within walking distance. To the point of getting sick.
5) I was obsessed with the movie "Newsies" as a kid (::cough:: preteen ::cough::) and had an enormous crush on "Spot". I'm disappointed his acting career never went anywhere.
2. I was a first-generation college grad. I did my degree in there years, started grad school at 21. Was finished and teaching at a university by 23.
3. Due to #1, I feel like a weirdo when childhood nostalgia of pop culture comes up in my current life. I didn't see the movies or TV shows; I didn't have the toys. And I never learned to ride a bike.
4. I've had lots of unique experiences, including finding a corpse as a teenager.
5. I can't figure out how to peel citrus. At all. I've taught myself many skill sets in life, but I can't do that one.

2- When I was 13 I was selected, along with 30 other kids out of my state, to go sing in England. I've also recorded on 3 CDs since then.
3- I love my dog so much that I genuinely worry if I'll be able to love our baby the same. And I cry thinking about my dog feeling left out
4-I was engaged at 17 but thankfully called the wedding off a month before it was supposed to happen
5- I'm a natural light blonde but I've been dying my hair (and eyebrows) dark for 11 years. Every time I try to go back to my natural color I hate it and dye it back 6 wks later
2. I raced dirt bikes for about 7 years while growing up and I miss it like crazy!
3. During my high school days, I traveled to Australia and Hawaii for cross country.
4. I've had my belly button pierced since I was "of age" to get it in my state with parental consent.
5. I am going for my Masters degree and will graduate with that in May 2015. However, after this baby gets here, I'll only have 2 classes left.

2. Mentioned this in the celebrity thread but the shortened version is I did some modeling when I lived in London and my photo ended up on David Bowie's fridge.
3. I had to have an emergency appendectomy while briefly living in Italy. I could communicate somewhat effectively but it was scary to go through that in a foreign country. Also, pretty sure my "surgeon" was like a third year med student. He had to google something in front of me!!!
4. During my time working in a research lab, I helped synthesize a new molecule that other labs had been trying to make for years. It's nothing special yet but might have some promising applications for cancer treatment.
5. My husband and I loooove to renovate houses. We completely re-did our first house ourselves and made a killing when we sold it...now we're on number two and we're addicted.
2. I played the flute in school and I still pull it out and play oh Danny boy from time to time.
3. I can sing the entire Ice Cube today was a good day. I can do it wout the music. It does take a few drinks for me to start rapping.
4. I was widowed at 26 years old while I was 12 weeks pregnant with my son. I know have a whole set of in-laws wout the husband. I re-married 4 years later.
5. I am my friends go to gal for advice. They make jokes that I hold the group together. This is only bc I'm the one that's available to talk during the day. Lol so who knows if my advice is good
2) I'm 22 own and run an equine dentistry company.
3) I go hunting and fishing I have every year since I was 11.
4) I have broken multipal bones and been stiches up many times, but getting my blood taken makes me faint everytime.
5) perogies are my ABSOLUTE favorite food I would eat them all day every day!!
Edit: hit post before I finished
And my 5 fun facts:
1. I am a pescetarian (vegetarian who eats fish) and have been since the 5th grade (I am now 35) I do not miss meat one bit and the only reason I did it was a taste preference - If anyone wants an AWESOME spicy veggie chili recipe that I have perfected over years and years click here (https://allrecipes.com/personalrecipe/63057181/jenns-spicy-vegetarian-chili/detail.aspx)
2. I have known I wanted to be involved with music as a career in some way, shape or form since I was in kindergarten - I play the viola, sing and can read music. I went to college for "Music Business" and was offered a job to start literally the day after I graduated. 13+ years later it's still my favorite thing and I love my job.
3. I have a close group of 15+ girlfriends from H.S. that I have never lost touch with. Everyone always told us we'd all grow up and on and it gives me so much satisfaction to know they were all wrong.. even with husbands, kids, moving to different states I love these girls more than my own family - they are a part of me.
4. I don't have a middle name and can not wait to give my daughter one b/c I always felt like I was the only one I knew without one.
5. I knew that I wanted to marry my DH on our first date. I have never felt that way about anyone before - nor did I ever want to have children before I met him but somehow the fact that he's got 4 from his last marriage didn't scare me one bit AND we planned to have this child together and it's the best decision I think I've ever made.
