Anyone else...bad taste?

So, whenever I eat, it seems that the food, sugars, proteins, whatever seem to linger around in my mouth after I've eaten and sort or "sour" in my mouth. I don't remember ever having this issue before pregnancy. It helps to brush my teeth and I use gum and mints, but its soooo annoying as it makes me feel kind of icky and queasy, too. I thought it was a first tri symptom, but it has not seemed to go away with the nausea. Does anyone else experience this? And what do I do about this? Does it eventually go away? Sorry if this is a stupid question. I am a FTM.

Re: Anyone else...bad taste?

  • Sorry, I just realized...I guess this could have gone under the symptom check in. Snowflake me away.

  • I'll answer your special snowflake question.  ;)

I have the same thing happening and yup, it's annoying.  I thought it might go away when the worst of my MS left like it did with my first pregnancy, but no such luck this time around.

  • Yes. The sour taste is awful. I feel like it tapered off for me around 15 weeks or so. I'm 18 weeks and I still get a lingering yucky taste every now and then especially after something sweet but it's not as bad. I found that chewing gum or brushing my teeth after I eats helps.
  • Me too.  Its awful.  It used to be metalic, now less metallic and more sour.   When I googled I came across "waterbrash" which results from high levels of heartburn and can cause the bad taste.  I think that is what I'm experiencing.

  • This has been a huge problem for me. It's the worst! It's starting to taper off, but it's still lingering and I wish it would just disappear. Definitely makes me feel really icky. If I can't brush, I always have mints or those Prego Pops sour candies on hand that seem to help. Orange juice seems to help, too. Here's hoping it will just go away.

Anyone see penis instead of pennies? No? Just me?   ;)

I did too. What does that say about us? :-/

I also have this taste but only with sweets. I love sweets so it's a good motivator to stay away from them during pregnancy. I have nearly ZERO self control so I suppose God gave me some help...

I don't know about these...where do you get them? I have tried gum - works ok, but gives me more gas and Altoids and/or other mints are hit or miss.
  • Yes! I have this, too. I call it "the taste". It's gross, makes me nauseous, and I can't make it go away. Ugh.

  • I had this constantly from 7 weeks til around 16 weeks. I never could completely get rid of it, but found it helped to use a tongue scraper when brushing my teeth. Then it just went away...like pooof, gone.
