Child care cost..opinions please!

My husband and I are blessed enough to have a friend's mother willing to keep our baby after she's born, when I go back to work. Baby will be around three months old when I start leaving her with the sweet lady. I'm so excited to have someone I know and trust to keep my baby, but there's one small issue I'm having. I don't know how much to offer to pay her. DH and I are supposed to go over to their house tomorrow to meet and discuss her keeping our baby, and I feel like we need to have a figure ready. This woman is so sweet, I know she'll take much less than she's worth, but I have no desire to take advantage of her kindness or low-ball her. At the same time, we're on a pretty tight budget, so we have to be conscious of that and not just go making it rain on her because we're so thankful and she is our dream come true.

What monthly rate would you recommend?

You said on a different board you were from Alabama.  Which general area?  I know where we are (NE AL) centers run from $80-120 a week  So, it just depends on what area it is

Eastern/Central. I think this area is around the same, from the bits of information I've gleaned from the locals. We ended up offering $125/wk, which got turned down immediately for being "too much." Hopefully we can agree on a fee that I can not feel too guilty about. Thanks for the info!!

Oh..so, I gotta ask. Alabama or Auburn?
