Pregnant after IF

Non PAIF - DH has bad cough

Hey girls ~ my DH has been sick with a cold that has lingered on for a week now. The worst part has been that the past 4 days he has had a horrible cough, he can't get any sleep it's so bad. Thankfully I haven't caught what he has yet, but I just really want him better. He tried Robitussin last night and it didn't work, he still coughed all night. Anything that you know of that helps ease a bad cough? You ladies are so knowledgeable that I thought I would ask. Thanks!

Re: Non PAIF - DH has bad cough

  • Aw poor hubby! I'm not sure other than Robitussin, Theraflu and cough drops. For as long as it's lasted though it's probably worth calling the doc. My hubby's really bad cough turned into bronchitis after a few days that needed antibiotics. Hope he feels better soon (and that you can keep avoiding the sickness)

  • All 3 of us had that here and it took almost 3 weeks to go away. I'd strongly encourage your H to go to the doctor. My H didn't and it turned into bronchitis with bad wheezing. 3 weeks, a round antibiotics, and a course of steroids later, he's finally on the mend. In the mean time, maybe have him try Delsym or Mucinex cough syrup. (And at urgent care, the doctor strongly recommended that I wear a mask at home if DH or DD were sick. I didn't but might if it happens again!) Stay healthy!

  • I'd highly recommend Mucinex as well....especially if it's a "wet" cough. If he's looking for something more natural, I usually sip on a cup of ginger lemon tea with honey. :-)

@katekat8721 & @MJC1116 ~ Thanks to both of you for warning me about the possibility of bronchitis and to have DH go to the doctor. He went today and he does have bronchitis. They gave him an inhaler to use which is supposed to help. Thanks for your advice! (And so far I've lucked out on not getting sick! :) )

  • Aw bummer! At least the meds will help! Hope he feels better :)

  • I'm so glad he went and got meds. They will definitely kick it out of his system in a few days. :)

  • Meds are great for bronchitis!  Also having a humidifier in your room at night can help a lot, at least it does for me.
