Protective mommy-ness kicking in. Vent.

Went to the dog park today and this old lady's dog came up to ours and our dog did a playful growl. Then the whole time we were there she kept trying to keep her dog away from mine and kept telling EVERYONE there that my dog was "antsy" and basically implying keep your dog away from him. I heard her tell someone he was antsy from about 30 feet away and I yelled at her that he isn't antsy he is a puppy and just playing. My husband walked over to her and told her kindly that he is under two years old and is just playful and she then asked if he was ever bit at the dog park before. Lady if you are paranoid about your dog play fighting with other dogs then don't bring yours to the dog park. I seriously wanted to punch this old lady. I don't know why she made me so mad but I just pictured someone talking shit about my little one to all the other parents at day care and I got really protective.
Go away old lady. My dog is awesome.

  • Aww your dog is so sweet!

This stuff gets me mad too. I don't have a dog but I love my sisters dog like hes my own! Its like people don't understand its natural for dogs to want to be a bit vocal while playing and it doesn't mean they are a terror.

  • Ugh people are annoying. On a walk once there was a lady walking her dog that was barking and growling at mine. Mine wasn't even paying attention and was more focused on smelling and peeing on everything. She TOLD me there was something wrong with my dog like he was putting off negative energy. I was just like "what? He isn't even paying attention to you or your dog!"

  • I don't understand people! I told my husband "I will hit an old lady, I'm pregnant I don't care!" Hahaha
  • I almost threw down at JoAnns the other day because an old lady said some snide comment to me... So I feel yah :)

  • I find it amazing that people who own dogs do not understand the difference between a dog being vocal and a dog being aggressive.

  • Seriously, other people are the reason I haven't brought my (ridiculously friendly, but giant 7 month old) puppy to the dog park.

Come to my house and we can play :)

  • Oh you bet your ass I would have said something if she tried that with my dog. My dog IS my child. I probably wouldn't even have waited for to say it multiple times. The first time I would have heard her say that I would have said something- Mainly because I have a pretty short temper to begin with.

    It's a BOY

  • Oh and my neighbors are "terrified" of my dog. He has one eye and cowers at everything, he was clearly abused and is not aggressive in any way. People are dumb.

I actually almost threw down a few days before Christmas in the elevator at the mall for some lady calling me rude for accidentally almost closing the elevator on her and her little girl. I even apologized when it happened and said "I didn't see you guys coming, i'm sorry!" . If her daughter wasn't there I would have been more vocal.
