June 2014 Moms

Have you picked an infant travel system?

We've been looking at travel systems and pack n plays since we started trying to get pregnant.  We both really like the Chicco Key Fit system but we aren't ready to commit yet.

What travel system do you have or plan to get?  As when are you going to start acquiring things?

We won't have a shower and we don't expect support from our families to get ready (DH family is in France and mine is 2500 miles away and we recently moved and don't know many people...And those we know are also all having babies about the same time).  So we are thinking to start stocking up soon to spread the expense over the next 4 months.  I also want everything in order and ready by end of April due to history of preterm labor.  Is it too soon to start now?

  • I love the Baby Trend car seats, and used the snap n go stroller in the beginning. Not a huge fan of the strollers. Lol.

I love Britax strollers (have used B-Nimble and BOB), but don't know about the infant car seats. Heard great things about their travel systems!

  • I'm thinking the Chicco Key Fit with the BOB Revolution.  I also like the Britax B-safe car seats, but think I like Chicco better.

  • For a pack n play we are getting the Graco newborn napper. So excited about this. It'll double as a bassinet/rock and play/changing table. I'm really excited about this one. https://m.buybuybaby.com/m/product/Graco-reg-Pack-n-Play-reg-Playard-with-Newborn-Napper-reg-Elite-in-Cascade/1041022092

  • If we didn't already have our baby trend jogger from our DS, we would be getting the Graco Jogger and car seat. If only Graco made a double jogger...

@ ElTrain5 I saw that one,  was looking at that too, I had someone give me a pack n play but I would not mind having two so I could leave one at my moms.  hehehe

  • We got the Britax B-Agile travel system in red color.  Haven't tried it out yet (besides the store), but I'm very excited to have it!  I've read great reviews for both the stroller and car seat.  We bought it through Kohls, when they had a big sale.

  • We decided on the Graco click connect system. It's within our budget and I could do everything one-handed. The seat clicks and locks into the stroller and it was super easy to figure out.

  • We are doing the Britax B-Agile system, with the Britax B-Safe carseat. The stroller weighs 13lbs, can be folded one handed, and it's super easy to maneuver in a crowd. Also, the car seat simply "clicks" in, without attachments to buy, and it's not bulky like the chicco systems. Also, it is way cheaper than the BOB (which it's similar to except it's not a jogger).

Honestly, after looking at 4 wheeled stroller systems, I'm not sure I could ever use one. They are huge, bulky, and not very user friendly!  Go read Lucieslist.com, her review of strollers/travel systems is great! Really helped narrow it down for me.
    I second all of this.
  • We have a britax b-ready and the britax chaperon infant seat. Used it with my first and will be using it again (the b-ready can be used as a double) We bought it during the britax annual sale - paid for the stroller and got the infant seat free which was beyond amazing. Love it.

oh, have no idea.  Someone gave me 2 bases but now will have to see if they will fit the travel system I want.  Oh man so hope it does.  Well if not I have a car seat that fits them so guess we would be ok lol

This! Do a snap n go to start and pick a separate stroller once LO is too big for it. They are usually very affordable and often easily found on craigslist. Most travel systems are bulky. Some newer (affordable and expensive) strollers have features like a snap n go (like pp) in that you are not dealing with a full size regular stroller with an infant car seat snapped into that seat.

  • We have a chicco key fit from DS , but may be getting a new one depending on if we decide to buy our double bob new or used
  • I have a chicco key fit travel system and don't care for it. There was no preventing it though because when I bought it I was still a pregnant ftm so had no idea what to look for or what I would like. First when just using the stroller the back of the seat does not sit all the way up straight so my daughter is always sitting up holding into the cup holder part without using the backrest. Then the footrest part is too long so even though she's a big 16 month old her legs stick out straighter than they should because the bottom of the seat is too long ad footrest too short if that makes sense. Then the canopy part on the car seat is not nearly big enough to block any shade or light or anything off baby's face when just in the cat seat and out of the stroller so I always would have to have a blanket to throw over it. My friend has a gracious stroller that sits up much straighter and looks way not comfortable for her lo and has a huge canopy. I definately have buyers remorse.

I think this is what we're going with, the Graco Duoglider version. The stroller can connect with infant seats easily and can be used when they're older too.

I don't think it's too early. Our plan is to have everything done by 28 weeks since doc anticipates putting me in bed rest at that time.

  • Orbit stroller, car seat/carrier w 2 bases.
  • We got the uppababy vista and mesa. Love them!!!!

I have a friend that is letting me borrow one of her extras. However, I could swear that I saw some at Babies R Us. I could be mistaken...
  • We bought the Chicco Key fit, it's the exact same one we had 6 years ago with my son, except slight color change.  I tried a bunch out when I was pregnant with him and it was by far my favorite and the ease of it was good for my 60+ mother who babysit frequently so we went with it again this time around.
  • I got the Graco set on Black Friday at Walmart. I imagine I'll be able to order another base off their website, but I haven't looked yet. That's what I did with my last child.

  • I think we have decided on the Bob Revolution (we're hikers!) and the matching Britax-B Safe.

  • We have the chicco key fit car seat and stroller and also the pak n play from DD. I don't have a problem with it you can take it all apart and wash it but I'm guessing you can do that with all of them. I got the whole set up because I liked the color and it all matches and it's unisex. Red!

  • We went with the Chicco Key fit travel system with our last child.  Travel systems are kinda big and bulky.  We still going to do Chicco but we are going to get the frame this time.  Its so much lighter and compact.  We went and played with it at Babies R Us a few weeks ago.

I suggest you set aside an hour or two and just go mess with everything at a baby store.  It's the best way to see what you like.
  • Will be registering for Britax B Agile as well ;-)
  • I want this one, but haven't made a final decision. I would use our old set, but it's expired. https://www.target.com/p/chicco-cortina-se-travel-system-perseo/-/A-13802257#guest-reviews

  • My MIL ended up buying us a Graco. I think it's called Classic Connect or something like that (not really sure). It was on sale on Black Friday at Walmart so she bought it for us. I wasn't happy about that at the time because this was one of the things I really wanted to pick out myself but it turned out that it is a pretty nice system.

  • Uppa baby vista with the Chicco key fit infant car seat.
  • No travel system. We'll use an infant seat (have to get new since ours "expired"). I'm thinking the Maxi Cosi because it's the lightest. That and our Maclaren Snap n Go- love it- til baby is old enough to ride in the BOB.
