Books

I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on books about making the decision to have kids and all that jazz. Dh and I plan on ttc in the next few years, but we'd like to read up on pre-ttc stuff now.

TIA

Re: Books

  • Only you can make the decision, a book won't be able to tell you when or why you should TTC, but the book most often recommended on the boards for TTC & getting to know your body is Taking Charge of Your Fertility.

  • I completely know that only we can make that decision, I guess I should have been more specific. Books that will help you get ready, check lists and stuff like that. TCOYF is a great book, I have it. I've been charting TTA for a while now.

  • Honestly, it is just really common sense stuff to get you ready.  Are your finances good (start putting money aside if you want), quit smoking, quit drinking, exercise more, lose those last few pounds if you need to, get a pap, get HIV tested, etc.

I would say that something DH and I talked about before we started TTC was how we would raise the child (Christian beliefs vs. etc) and the other big discussion that is good to have BEFORE getting KU is about what happens if you do find a defect with the baby (downs, or something else) -- do you terminate or continue to full term.  You would be surprised at how many couples I know that thought that they were on the same page with this one but were entirely 180 degrees from each other.

other then that -- relax and enjoy no-pg life now!  Don't stress about TTC until you are closer to it.
