@kwrecks I am confused.  It is snowing and the ball park is on fire?

    My thoughts exactly

    Can I play?

I let myself get all worked up reading about sleep training, CIO, not CIO ect. We transitioned LO to her own room yesterday and she could care less. I put her down drowsy but awake and she goes to sleep on her own, when she wakes up in the middle of the night she doesn't cry (unless something is wrong) she babbles and goes back to sleep on her own (no more MOTN feedings!) and shes napping better than ever. I feel silly for all the "research" I did when clearly LO runs her own show.

Im jealous of all you getting snow! We are under the same system that just dumped snow in VA but its not cold enough here so we just got pounded with rain and wind boo!

I just downloaded panstoria (digital scrapbooking) and its AMAZING, Im having a blast while LO sleeps
You are really lucky. My first was like this and I didn't truly appreciate how AMAZING that was until now. This kid can't put himself to sleep to save his life and when he wakes up in the MOTN, our neighbors know it.

pretty sure she's lulling me into false security that this baby stuff is easy....the next one will probably be complete opposite

  • My second was a horrible baby right from the start. Emergency c section (after an ambulance ride), born with a tumor on her leg (after a year they finally tested it and all was good), severe reflux, severe eczema, food allergies, and she hated sleep. This is my child who was potty training and at nap time in her pulled decided to stick her hand in her poop and paint her windows with it.

After her I was very appreciate of my DD1.
  • I picked up some great nail stickers at the dollar store and put a gel coating over it (I got a big ass u/v nail thing for Christmas). I feel so freakin fancy now that I haven't been going to town biting my nails at all! Look how pretty! Look!!!!
Also, we pay about $300 less per month by owning vs renting in this area. We've been pretty lucky not to have to pay for anything major (our house is still fairly new), but it's never a bad idea to just stick that extra money into savings in case anything big does come up. Plus I love being able to paint the walls crazy colors and hang cool light fixtures- both things I was never able to do in a rental.

I think my best friend judges me because my LO isn't on a schedule and takes forever to put down at night.  She had her baby on rigid schedule by the time she was 8 weeks old and she also was able to put her to bed with no problem.  She keeps telling me what I'm doing wrong.  I don't think she understands that each baby is different.  My baby doesn't enjoy sleeping. And frankly, I haven't put too much effort on getting her on a tight schedule.  I've set up routines for her, but I want a little flexibility for our lives and they didn't have that when their daughter was a baby because they were so rigid with schedules.  I just wish she wasn't so uptight about it.  It's not like she's getting up in the middle of the night with her.

Cut yourself some slack and enjoy this time with LO. In all honesty, I spent so much time 'training' my second, I missed out on important bonding time. I wish I had worried less about putting her down 'drowsy but awake'. Number 3 and most likely my last and I could care less who's baby STTN in their own crib. I enjoy every snuggle, they all sleep eventually.

LO discovered yesterday he has a voice. And now he likes to use it constantly. He just screams for fun. It's so cool he discovered it yet so annoying at the same time.

Mine does this too! He has been "cooing" for a while but he now does this screamy-screachy thing a lot. And he's not upset, he just wants to make the sound!

  • @jill9288 - we bought for the first time when I was pregnant and our monthly mortgage payment is less than what our rent was. That was initially a surprising/compelling fact we learned when looking into buying vs renting- and may help you convince your husband lol!

  • My kid grabs his balls during a diaper change. I see a lot of "quit touching that!" In the future.
  • @Zever000 same here!! She flails her legs around in addition to sucking her big toe. Fun....

  • Jack demolished a good chunk of sweet potato last night at dinner. My mom couldn't believe I just gave it to him to eat. He loved it!

We got some bad news today, DH's step-gpa passed away, he was an amazing man and always treated us like his own. I'm just glad we took J to meet him when they were in town. :(

::Hugs:: I am so sorry for your loss.

On this note- Over the Christmas holiday I found myself shouting "Dont touch those balls! Leave the balls alone! Those are not your balls! Be gentle with the balls!" quite a bit more than I ever thought possible.

I find myself saying similar things to H quite regularly. (Besides the "not your balls" one).

  • I love my IL's, but having them around messes up the flow in our house and LO's life...I am torn...because having them here also means someone else to hold LO so I can poo and shower in peace....today I dumped her off with Mom Mom and slept for a whole 2hrs on my tummy, no baby in sight!

I am sick of this rental car business and just want my car back...now they saying Monday...on the plus side, they fixed my blower motor on my A/C....I may have told them it stopped working after the accident...when in fact it had not been working for 2m....turns out it was a loose wire, and a totally legit repair related to a jarring accident...WINNING

  • @Zever000 - LO grabs her feet and holds them up for me....totally makes it easier for me to change her...but what is the challenge is when she is pissy and starts kicking and pushing up using her feet for leverage on the changer...UGH

  • About poop... LO had a big poop so I knew I needed to take his pants off (it's hard with his boots and bar..and by taking his bar and pants off it makes it 50x's easier) So as was wiping up his rear he kicks his foot/boot into his poop. It got in places no wipe can fully get to. I did my best at cleaning it... But let's just say I'm glad we go get new boots Monday!! (AND hopefully get told he only has to wear them at night!!)
