Any suggestions for being short of breath more often then not?

I'm 27 weeks and I know shortness of breath is common but about a week ago I noticed more often then not I feel very short of breath. I have to sit down or readjust how I'm sitting, leaning forward(allowing my belly weight to pull away from my body). Sometimes taking sips of ice water help. This is my fourth child. I've never experienced this before. I have plenty of weeks left and I can only imagne as my baby continues to grow the breathing could get worse. Help

  • Maybe you are just carrying higher this time causing less lung space. Hopefully baby will lower a little and give you some more space. Unfortunately, if it is caused by baby sitting higher then there really isn't anything you can do about it. Sorry you are uncomfortable.

  • I'm in the same boat and usually it doesn't let up until baby drops later on. This is why I can't work out. I do 30 squats a few times a week (used to be 100 every other day) and it's almost too much. I get short of breath just sitting.

  • I am also carrying high and am always out of breath. Just getting in and out of bed causes me to huff and puff :)
I don't think there is much that can be done about it unfortunately until baby drops.
  • I had shortness of breath start a couple days after my BFP.  It dissipated by the time I hit around 8 weeks or so.  But in the last week, it's definitely come back.  I'm definitely carrying low and plan on asking my OB about it at my appt on Monday.  Mine tends to be in conjunction with a stronger/faster heartbeat.  It's freaking me out to sleep because it's so uncomfortable.
