Shooting pain in breast/ thrush?

Of course the doctor's office is closed today, so I am wondering if anyone has experienced shooting pain in one breast after breastfeeding? I googled it and it seems like thrush, but my DS doesnt have any symptoms. I dont have cracked nipples or anything like that, just shooting/ stabbing pains deep in the breast. It is almost unbearable at times. Anyone have thrush or any reccs for relief til I can talk to a doctor?

Re: Shooting pain in breast/ thrush?

  • You can  have shooting pains without having thrush.  It can be very normal.  I have them sometimes and was told it's normal.  If you don't have cracks, then it's probably not thrush.

  • I get shooting pains regularly, just in one breast....the stingy/underproducer one. Don't know what causes it, but so far, no thrush.
  • I had shooting pains in one nipple. The nipple was white and seemed a little raw. Turned out I had a yeast infection in that nipple and got on antibiotics. It did not affect the baby at all
  • I had those early on...it's just your breast refilling with milk.  Over time they'll hurt less and probably even stop.  Not much you can do, but I've heard trying a warm towel will help.
