In My last pregnancy I followed all the rules regarding food. Not so much in this pregnancy. You should see the shit I've been putting Into my body. The only thing I haven't had is ceaser salad. The good kind with raw egg in the dressing.
My question is is how many of you have eaten raw egg in a ceaser salad? I mean, it's really only bad for you if that egg had salmonella, right?!?!
Salad is one of the few things I still love to eat, you betcha I've been enjoying real Caesar dressing! Just like Prim said though...fresh is the operative word. Yum :-)
I have had raw cookie dough, fresh mayo and caesar dressing, and egg nog...I think I will be ok. In 30 years I have never gotten salmonella from any of these things, so odd are I won't. Just eat everything in moderation and you'll be fine.
Salmonella does not cross the placenta so it poses no risk to your baby. So worst case scenario - YOU would just get sick. But salmonella is pretty rare anyways. My advice is to stop worrying, eat your Caesar salad, and enjoy your pregnancy!
I ate tons of Caeser Salad towards the end of my 1st tri - it was a major craving. I didn't even know it was on the "avoid" list. Baby and I are still alive.
I eat Caesar salad, raw cookie dough, undercooked steak, homemade ice cream made with egg yolks, bagged spinach and salad greens, commercially prepared soft serve, cold deli meat, and bacon, and I enjoy the heck out of my morning cup of coffee.
Not all at one time, of course, 'cause that would be crazy.
Eat all the things, for they are delicious.
