TMI question...leaking?

I've noticed wetness in my underwear... worried about leaking fluid? My underwear just gets wet, not like a heavy discharge or anything. It is not very damp, just slightly but has been happening everyday.

Re: TMI question...leaking?

  • Tmi but I kinda freaked out last night but after dr. Google, I realized that it was just urine. It has happened a few times just shortly after I urinate. I would wait for it to dry and smell it to tell what it is.

  • This has been happening to me too. I guess I should mention it to my dr too.

  • I asked my doctor at my last appt and she suggested a panty liner (which I wear). She told me that if it were fluid, it would be more like a gush. I guess the discharge is another joy of motherhood!

  • I am on vacation until this weekend and have my next routine appt set up 1/16. I was just at the doctor on 12/20 and they checked my amniotic fluid levels and all were normal.

Should I try to get in earlier to check? And another TMI, if I go more then a day showering I feel like I stink down there from this watery discharge.

  • I've found the same thing. TMI but it seems to be mostly sweat and a bit of urine from sneezing etc... I started using baby powder and everything seems drier and more comfortable.
  • Oh yea, the shower every day kind of thing is discharge. From all I've heard about amniotic fluid, it has a very special smell. Panty liners are your friend!

  • It sounds normal, but of course it does happen that leaking can be fluid. With my first pregnancy, I was 36 weeks when it happened with me. It had been happening for about a day and a half before I decided I needed to go see my OB. They did an internal exam and gave me an ultrasound, and said they thought it was probably just normal discharge. I went home and later that night I got the big huge gush on the floor you always hear about. But it was about 2 days of slow leaking before that happened. Even when I went to the hospital after the gush, their paper test showed negative for amniotic fluid, but when I insisted on a more accurate type of test they can do (forget what it was), it was positive. Plus, they were able to compare my fluid levels in an u/s to the u/s I had had earlier in the day and see the drop. But the leaking I'd had was a lot of very watery fluid. It wan't like any normal discharge I had with my 2nd pregnancy or with this one. Also, right before it started, I lost my MP. It sounds very much like what you're having is normal, but just wanted to share my experience with leaking in case it helps you or anyone.

  • I was on vacation too and thought this might have happened to me. ER said not amniotic fluid and prescribed me meds for bacterial vaginosis. They didn't do a full culture, but since BV can cause problems too, I decided to just take the meds.
