Talk to me about Femara!

We're going to start IUI's next cycle and the RE wants to put me on Femara from CD 3-7. Those of you who have taken it, what were the symptoms like and how did your follicles respond?

I've been on femara for all of my 3 IUI cycles. I have had 1-2 decent sized follicles when ready to trigger. I feel like I don't respond as well as some women but my RE said they would cancel my cycle if I had any more than 4 mature follicles. As for symptoms I felt ovary pain but other than that nothing. I'm taking Femara for the first time too. I use to take Clomid, but my RE switched as my body was a little resistant to Clomid. So far, no symptoms or anything

I have used Femara for the last six cycles.  I never noticed any side effects to it.  My last 3 cycles were monitored and I only produced one follicle each time so I am moving on to injectables.  Hope it does the trick for you!

Edited to add:  I started on 2.5mg and moved up to 5mg.

I took 2.5mg CD 5-7 and had no symptoms what so ever. I also had no response.

I took it this cycle, 5mg CD4-8 and didn't experience any s/e. That made me haaaaappy since I was a mess on clomid. I had a 14mm follie on the right and 18mm follie on the left. I triggered CD13, iui on CD15....now we wait...

I took it and had no issues.  Clomid made me throw up.  I used Femera for all 3 IUI's and responded well.

My RE switched me to Femara after I did not respond to clomid.  I was started on 5mg CD 3- 7 and now produce 1-2 good follies on CD 14 (finally at a 28 day cycle for the first time ever!)

The only side effect I feel is "super O" pain -- cramping and discomfort during O time.

I did femara + ovidrel injection this cycle. I only had slight nausea, and a little ovulation pain the last few days and today. I got one large follicle on it this cycle. While on Clomid, I was irritable, moody, severe hot flashes and I had a large cyst burst (extremely painful!!!). Femara is much better this go around. GL!

I am on my first round of Femara right now, it is so much better than Clomid. I dont feel like I am going to bite any of my family members this time around!  I have (1) 16mm follicle on my left ovary on saturday and went back for a ultrasound Monday to measure and get a trigger shot... to my surprise i O'd ON MY OWN on Sunday!!!!! Which has never ever ever happened before! Even going on 150mg of Clomid i never o'd! I was giddy and smiling ear to ear! Femara hands down is amazing!!!

10+ cycles of Clomid… High dose was 150mg+ Metformin +Spinofinamin L

11/01/2013 – OB decided that im clomid resistance.

12/10/2013 – 1^st visit to RE  12/15/2013 1 day of cycle!

12/17/2013 – 1 round of 2.5 Femara ! 12/23/2013 HSG All Clear ( Follicle growth 7.5mm)

12/28/2013 – Follicle at 16mm!!! Lining @7.6, Estrogen patch given. Rescan on Monday for trigger shot!

12/30/2013- Follicle scan ,  Follicle went down to 12mm, I O’d on my own on SUNDAY!!! J 1^st time ever!

12/30/2013- to PG Test – 1 patch every 3 days, 2 pills a day of Estrace , Thursday 1/2/2013 start progesterone!

I guess all I need to do now is wait for CD1 so I can get my script to start CD 3

I am already getting paranoid that I'm going to pick the "wrong" CD1. I tend to have bright red spotting (or a very light flow) for a couple of days usually starting at 12 dpo, before it gets heavy. The RE said first day of full flow, but the meaning of it is different depending on who you ask! I should have been really super specific when I asked him that question "So, are we talking enough to soak a light, regular, or super absorbent tampon in 8 hours?? And does partial use count??" lol lol. Instead I just said "OK" when he said full flow. Silly me!

Maybe I'll send an email to my nurse and get her opinion of what first day of full flow means. I wouldn't want to start the Femara on the wrong day!!!
