Back pain / cramping

This darling boy is giving me a run for my money! I'll be 20 weeks tomorrow (happy dance!) but this afternoon I started getting severe pain in my lower back. It wraps around my sides by my hips, & it kind of feels like AF cramping. Is this normal at 20 weeks? I have not had much RLP, but this is my first pregnancy so I have no idea what's normal. I can feel him dancing away in there but I'm still concerned just because I'm in a lot of pain/really uncomfortable. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!

Hmm.. it doesn't really sound normal to me. I would probably call the Dr. They will ask you to come in more than likely and put a contraction monitor on you to see what's going on.
I had some abdominal pain with DD at 31 weeks and went in to find out I was infact having small contractions. They gave me a shot of something to stop them, watched me over night and then sent me on my way. DD wasn't born till 40w3d.

Thank you both! I'm sorry you're experiencing the same thing MamaMkay. I did end up calling, the nurse told me to lay on my left side & drink water & wait an hour to see if my uterus hardened & to call back. It did get hard twice. The pain was still there when I called back & she said it was definitely BH contractions. She said they can start as early as 16 weeks. I had no idea! I'm waiting for a call back after she talks with my doctor. I hope I can be seen just for peace of mind.

She called back & said it's too early to be experiencing BH for this long. They scheduled me for an U/S in the morning to check my cervix & the baby. I'm praying it stops overnight & that our LO is safe & sound!
