16 weeks = nausea, acid reflux, heartburn?

I began enjoying life sans MS around 12 weeks. Food paradise, suckers! And THEN. Xmas eve? Food kind of gross. Xmas day? Puked up the meal. Since? Acid every time I bend over, breathe, think. So I'm basically back to hating the thought of food and wishing I could live off space capsules. Plus all the stuff that helped with MS nausea? Irritates the heartburn.

What is this crap? I thought second trimester I was supposed to turn into a blissful unicorn.

Anyone else? How are you coping?

  • I'm dealing with the same thing. Almost everything is causing acid or heartburn. I'm still waiting to feel great.

  • There is NO reason to suffer through heartburn while pregnant. For me, Tums never worked. There are lots of pregnancy safe OTCs as well as prescription meds. For me, the way I knew I was pregnant was that my regular regimen wasn't working, lol. Jst call the nurse line in your doctor's office and they will tell you what you can take. I didn't even need to see my doctor, they just volunteered to get me medicine. You can get dehydrated because even the water will burn so don't suffer or take chances! :)

  • I've had horrible heat burn since entering the second trimester. It's bad after I eat and when I lay down in bed. The only thing that had worked is Tums and lots of water. Ugh
  • Yes, Yes and Yes. I don't remember is starting nearly so early last time.I eat so I am not nauseated then eating starts my heartburn. It is a vicious cycle.

  • My nausea is leaps and bounds worse in second Tri than first. I did start taking b6 the last few days and it has done wonders! You are supposed to take 25mg every 8 hours, but so far I can eat almost normally with only small bouts of nausea mixed in. I hope you find something that works for your heartburn soon!

  • I swear by Zantac. Once my MS let up a bit, the heartburn and dizziness started. I have frequent pitty parties for myself!
  • Yep. I am almost 14 weeks and my MS has been getting worse since week 11 or so. I'm still waiting for the magical day where I will wake up and feel great. I do think Zantac really helps a lot with the heartburn/acid issue.

Also I've been drinking water with lemon and ginger which is soothing to nausea and refreshing.

  • Don't have nausea but YES to the reflux/heartburn! Usually that doesn't bother me until the third trimester but it's all starting earlier this time. I have resorted to Pepcid or Zantac, works longer than Tums.

i forgot to add, i'm still having issues with having to pee a lot.  it seems pretty much every time i stand up i all of a sudden have to go. and still getting up in the middle of the night.

I'm down to getting up once a night. I think that's all I can hope for.

  • get on a zantac or similar regimen and stay on it asap.  also for immediate relief, the ONLY thing that works for me is gaviscon.  its the only anti-acid OTC that has a different active ingredient (i.e. tums, rolaids, Mylanta all have the same stuff).  Aluminum or something similar.  Works like a CHARM.  I keep a bottle by my bed, totally preg-safe!
