How do you know when prepped?

I have some organic cotton grovia soakers and some if the imagine smart fit prefolds. How do you know when they are prepped and ready? Boiling them decreases prep time?

Re: How do you know when prepped?

  • Really if you wash them 2-3 times they're probably ready to start using, as long as you keep in mind that they will get more absorbent the more you use them and don't start them off on like a three hour car trip or something.

  • Boiling will decrease prep time, but I wouldn't boil the Grovias because of the snaps. I'd be afraid they'd melt,l or bend.

Prefolds get really quilted when they are good to go. The Grovias took a good 5 washings for mine to be fully prepped. I started using them after 3 and just changed more often the first couple uses.

  • My imagine smartfit prefolds- regular cotton were prepped after 3 washings in hot (drying in between on low in the dryer).  My imagine smartfit prefolds- organic cotton were prepped after 5 washings.
  • I always just wash everything once.  I always change M after 2 hours and he's not a heavy wetter at all, so we can get away with that
