Hormone stoppage?

I am on estrogen and progesterone because of FET. My RE said I can stop the day I turn to 12 weeks however he has not done a blood test. It just feels so arbitrary to me. I want to know that me levels are right first. Maybe it has been just a failsafe for weeks. I have no idea. My appt. w OB is several days after RE told me to stop. I can't decide if I should stop on his schedule or wait until OB appt. any advice? I am looking forward to OB so I can get some maternal care. RE never took my blood pressure, weight, urine etc. I feel like I am missing some info. Anyone else in this boat?

The placenta takes over by 12 weeks so there is no need to check for hormone levels. Also normal pregnant ladies don't get seen til 10-12 weeks and they don't get blood pressure, urine, etc. test done until then which is why I'm assuming the RE's don't bother. I know it's hard but try and relax. You could always call your OBs office and talk to a nurse or on call DR for some peace of mind. GL

My RE or my OB didn't check my levels before I quit meds around the 12 week mark. As long as the pregnancy is progressing and everything with baby looks good, the placenta should be more than capable of churning out all the hormones you need now. I know it's nerve wracking to stop meds, after months on them it starts to feel like a saftey net, but by 12 weeks you should be more than ok to stop!

12 weeks is conservative. I wouldn't be too worried about stopping meds at that point.

They stopped my PIO cold turkey at 10 weeks- no blood work.
I was scared too but thankfully, it all turned out okay.

This exactly! I stopped at 10weeks, cold turkey. No tests. By 9/10 weeks the placenta is doing all the work, so you don't need the meds. Congrats!!

I agree with PP. That seems conservative. My RE plans to start weaning me off my meds from every day, to every other day at 9w, then stop altogether at 10w. No testing either. It should be fine. GL

They didn't check my levels either while stopping meds and my OB always told me to defer to my RE's instructions for them. And my RE only checked my vitals during my IVF cycle and weight checks were only on day of ER and FET. I don't think its really pertinent info to have this early on, especially since someone else pointed out many women don't see an OB until this point.

There are plenty of great responses, but I'll tell you my info because it is similar to everyone else.

I did an FET. They stopped my estrace at 9 with no blood work done. At 12 weeks (today) I stopped doing two progesterone shots a day and will do one a day for two weeks. That is really just to wean off.

I've been a little worried too because you begin to think you needs these meds forever, but luckily the ladies on here show us that these protocols are very, very normal.

My RE had me stop cold turkey at 9 weeks. As PP stated, ultrasound showed proper development of everything so she told me it was all good. I was nervous too, but after a few days I was really enjoying the "freedom!"
