a nurse told me something interesting early on (maybe you guys have heard this already too..) she said that she recommends women to take about a week or 2 before delivery to change their sleeping habits in order to begin to train the baby. she said that while we are active during the day, baby sleeps because we are moving and it is like a soothing, rocking sensation for them. however, when we lay down at night and stop moving, baby wakes up and becomes more active. she said she recommends women taking time to sleep during the day and stay awake at night to try to reverse that pattern for baby before delivery. i had never heard anyone suggest that before, but it made a lot of sense to me. obviously, this isn't some sure-fire trick to get your LO to sleep through the night or something and it doesn't work for everyone, but i might just give it a whirl.
