Blueberry Seconds Sale ?

So I ordered a pail liner from the seconds sale. Yesterday I take it out of the pail to wash it/the dipes and it's wet on the bottom. I look in the pail and there's a pool of water.

I'm going to give it one more try to see if it was some freak thing where water got in some other way (no idea how that would be), but if not would they send me a replacement/refund? Does anyone know? I imagine the seconds sale is as-is, but if the damn thing doesn't do the one thing it's supposed to do...

Re: Blueberry Seconds Sale ?

  • I'm pretty sure seconds sales are sold as is because "seconds" means that there was a small defect in the product they are selling and thus the lower price. After washing the liner I would check all the seams and make sure they are all sewn together properly.

  • Yeah, I figured. But I think of a seconds sale to mean it's something doesn't affect the usability of the item. Something cosmetic. Bummer. I looked at it this morning and didn't see anything, but I'll check again tonight.

  • Where did the pool of water come from? I use a hanging wet bag, but it would never hold any volume of actual liquid. Most wet bags don't even work that well with wet bathing suits.

  • Have you used a pail liner before? I'm being serious.
It's okay. I may be an idiot.

It's a PUL lined pail liner so I took that to meet waterproof (to a point). I have only used a non-waterproof one from the diaper service for wet/poo diapers.

I am using this one to store pee/rinsed diapers for 2ish days before washing. Am I an idiot? It's okay, you can tell me.
  • If they're rinsed and like dripping with water no pail liner I've met will stand up to that.

  • Okay, my bad...so not to be dumb...how do you store your rinsed diapers before washing? Or do you not spray until wash time?
  • Oh, and also, up until this point I was using a planetwise wet bag for the exact same purpose and it worked just fine which is why I expected the Blueberry pail liner to do the same.
  • I rinse only poopy diapers and squeeze them out some. Then they go in my planet wise wet bag, but usually there's already other stuff in there (that hasn't been rinsed) so there's not enough water to make it all the way to the bottom and pool up. If that makes any sense.

Oh, man, I have no interest in squeezing them out.

Careful, this turned into like an 8 page thread about which was right like a year an a half ago...

    Haha...seriously?

  • My sprayed diapers aren't all that soppy wet. I try to take the inserts out first, and that helps. For things that I have to soak (like fitteds) I wring them out after they've soaked. My hanging wet bags usually feel a tad damp on the outside, but not too bad. Did you dry the pail liner in the dryer to seal the seams?

  • This content has been removed.
  • I don't squeeze super thoroughly or anything, but I close them up (poop in!) and try to get at least a little extra water out.

  • I put my rinsed dipes into an unlined pail (half of one of those 2 sided bins for recycling) by the toilet and rinse it out in the utility sink next to the washer.
  • No, I didn't dry it in the dryer. I'll try that.

Isn't that weird @secretagentkate that one would work and the other wouldn't?
  • I haven't had leaking issues with my PW. Maybe try the heat seal once, like you said. That could be the problem?

  • Now I feel dumb.... I just assumed you put all diapers right into the pail w/liner or a wet bag, no rinse necessary with ebf poo. Are you rinsing dipes that have solid poop with a diaper sprayer, then tossing the wet mess into the pail? Are you supposed to wring them out a little? (Sorry for hijacking, but I feel clueless at the moment)

  • I never rinsed ebf poo, either.

Yes, I'm rinsing solid poo dipes and putting everything into the pail. I guess I'll try wringing a little.

My planetwise doesn't leak. It's the new blueberry pail liner.

I never rinsed EBF poo. Also a spraying tip that I read here that has helped reduce the wetness of sprayed diapers is to hold the diaper by all four corners. Fold it in half and hold all four corners so that nothing hangs in the toilet. Then spray downwards as if you're using the sprayer stream to "scrape off" the poop.
That sounds like a good tactic. Sort've make my newly purchased spray pal useless, though.
  •  When you unclip the Spray Pal after spraying, close it flat and squeeze it to wring most of the water out.  That's been working well for us to remove excess water.

  • When I took the liner out to wash yesterday there was no puddle in the pail. A little sweaty, but no puddle. But there weren't all that many rinsed diapers in there, either. Thank, ladies! :)
