How much RLP is normal?

I know this question varies person to person and it's hard for anyone to know the pain you're experiencing, but I have been having sharp and random right lower pain that radiates down my right leg sometimes! Idk if maybe the way my uterus is growing it could be pushing against a nerve causing me the pain but it catches me off guard sometimes! Have you ladies experienced anything similar to this?

Re: How much RLP is normal?

  • I have an appointment jan. 7 so if this keeps up I'll talk to them then or see if I can get an earlier appointment
  • It sounds like sciatica. Which sucks! It usually starts right lower back and then bam! radiates down that right leg like lightning. I tried meds, and then physical therapy but we eventually found out it was a herniated disk causing mine so I had to do epidural injections. Good luck. I know a lot of women get sciatica during pregnancy, but once you deliver, it subsides.

  • I've been having similar pain. I get sharp almost like a pinching on either side and then sometimes it radiates a bit down my right leg. Other times it radiates in my vagina (which is really weird BTW) I have heard this is called "lightening Crotch." Not Fun! Im going to bring it up at my next appt on January 6. If you hear anything from your Dr. please post here so I know if I should be more concerned.

  • Sounds like sciatica:( maybe try a maternity belt to relieve the pressure. I did and it had really helped!!
  • I also am experiencing my right thigh get warm and tingly and that leg falls asleep easily when I'm sleeping. Sometimes when I stand up after sitting for a while, I get a sharp pain in my back right above my right butt cheek then it goes down that leg. I'm thinking sciatica, sounds like it could be your problem too

  • I have TUNS of RLP this pregnancy where as I has none with DS. Some times if I turn over funny in bed I get this pulling pain on one side of my lower abdomen. I have lots of pulling and stretching feelings down low thats mildly uncomfortable.

I think its totally possible to have pain earlier on.....

  • I am also 16 weeks and have been experiencing RLP since week 13 which my OB said was totally normal. She said you body is growing and making room for the baby so this type of pain will persist throughout the second trimester. At this point I just know not to make any sudden movements and when i sneeze to brace myself...
