Recommend your favorite baby clothing shops

ABColeslaw; thank you for posting your purchase for your little girl from Crazy 8! They have some really cute onesies and body suits.

I'm now on the hunt for a coming home outfit for LO.
I've looked at Carters, Gymboree, OshKosh, Crazy8, BabysRus, BuyBuyBaby, and JCPenny. I'll probably also stalk Zulily but they take a lifetime to ship, I hear.

Please recommend all of your favorites, specifically for girl clothes. DH is going to hate me, I'm convinced. ;)

  • I also like the Gap and Old Navy. Children's Place is hit and miss for infants.

Zulily can take awhile to ship, I think I waited three weeks max, but they have good stuff.

  • I love Boden and Hanna Andersson for special things. Shipping from Zulily is usually 2-4 weeks so still plenty of time at this point. You can also find the same brands other places.

  • Janie and Jack :-)
  • I buy most of my stuff for nieces/nephews/friends babies from Crazy 8's and Target.

  • I LOVED Janie and Jack.  They have clothes with such great patterns and colors.  BUT, get them on a sale, because that is the way it is worth it.  I couldn't wait to get my daughter this adorable pair of burnt orange cords and cream colored shirt with a matching pattern...what I paid was gross compared to what I saw it on sale for two weeks later...

Can't wait to go there for a lil boy...they also have adorable boy stuff...

  • I like Baby Gap but can't justify it unless they're on sale. Love Hanna Anderson, too. We actually have the most wonderful resale boutique here in CT that only takes the really nice brands of baby clothes, and they are still super cheap. They are really discerning about what they'll sell, which makes me feel like I've gotten a great bargain every time! I also live for hand-me-downs. I will literally take anything!

  • Boden=drool.
Carters is great for everyday wear, it's my go-to. They also make a line specifically for target and one specifically for Walmart, you really can't go wrong with any of them.
I find Old Navy has a better selection in bigger toddler sizes than the little ones.
Baby Gap is always classic and they have great sales.
I always strike out at Janie & Jack because their sizing is weird on Beb. H&M also has some great plain colored bodysuits and staple items.
I can never find anything for little babies at my Children's Place and I have never shopped Hanna Anderson so no opinions on their stuff.

  • Dillard's I always find really good sales. But I honestly get most of DDs stuff at consignment sales or Once Upon a Child.

  • Thanks so much guys! I don't foresee us buying too much more clothes other than the coming home outfit until after our shower. But I will definitely be stalking sales on the websites! @Stthomas1222 - thank you for reminding me about Once Upon a Child! We have one literally 10 minutes away and they did have some really cute things before we found out this little one is a girl!

  • I just scored a bag-load of 3-6mo clothes with some newborn outfits too for less than $50 at Once Upon a Child. I think the most expensive was a splurge on an over-alls outfit for $5. My son will be 7 when the new baby is born, so I am starting with no hand-me-downs this time, but since this will be my second boy, I know what I will actually put on the baby and what will be a waste of my money. If I have to spend more than seconds to access a diaper, it will never be worn. I'm feeling pretty sold on Once Upon a Child and now I'm eager to go check out another local baby resale shop.

  • I never bought DD clothes because MIL is crazy and has been buying her enough clothes for triplets!!! It's all Carter's , jumping beans and Oshkosh. I don't really like oshKosh. My absolute favorite outfit is a playsuit a friend gifted me from Giggle Better Basics
GBCB!!! Regs, lurkers and newbies we are leaving TheBump. Come join us at the new place ****/board/50/14 image
  • We love baby gap! For onsies we love Carter's :). We also love the Amy Coe line from BRU.

  • I've started browsing a few of the websites for sale/clearance deals. I found a few things for fall/winter on Children's Place, and I'm browsing Crazy 8 right now. I know a lot of clearance will be fall/winter items but we don't mind picking up a few things now so we know we have something for later. I always find cute things on Carter's, I've sent clothes to friends OOT when they've had babies several times from them, so I'm avoiding that website for now because I usually love it all LOL!

It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s that I don’t know you. Stranger Danger.

I think anything you love is a perfect coming home outfit. I would look for something simple. Dressing a tiny, squishy baby in a button down and suspenders or frilly dress is harder than it sounds. Just don't buy a gown - you need to be able to put baby in their carseat! So many people forget that little detail.

DH and I actually decided to DIY our coming home outfit because he didn't like all of the cutesy girly outfits I had been looking at. We've been calling our daughter 'velociraptor' since the positive pregnancy test (google we're expecting/velociraptor meme, DH loves it). We are going to purchase a footie or a onesie and legging-like pants, and using a velociraptor stencil and a cute girly fabric, we are going to cut it out of the fabric, sew it using the sewing machine and add a cute little bow to our daughter's head/on a soft headband. Easy, but meaningful to DH and not covered in lace/bows/flowers. ;)

  • Well- I may be a bit biased but I own a children's store outside of Philadelphia- check it out if you have a second www.facebook.com/shophatch
  • For nicer clothes or special outfits:
    Mini Boden
    Janie & Jack

    Everyday stuff:
    Baby Gap
    H&M
    Target
    Crazy 8

For jammies I stalk Costco. They had Hanna Anderson PJs awhile back & we stocked up. They're much thicker & better quality than other brands, but are spendy.
  • Another vote for baby gap. Old navy too. Sign up for their emails and you'll get alerts for some great online sales.

I can't wait until your website is up and running! You have some really cute things on your facebook but DH won't take a drive to Philly from Long Island even if I'm a PSU graduate. ;)
