book recs please

I need book recommendations for a 2 year old, and for a 5 month old, please! For the 5 month old, I know they got lots of the classics for baby showers, so if you have any hidden treasures that you've come across and your LO loves, please share.

For the two year old (my DD), her most recent obsession is the Jolly Postman books with "envelopes" that you take letters and cards out of, so interactive things like that are great.

Thanks, ladies!

  • The Little Blue Truck is one of our favorites for DS who is a little over 2. It's got grea illustrations and a good message. DS loves it!

  • My DD is loving my old pop up books now (she will be 2 next month).  I am not sure if you can still find them in the stores, but it might be worth a shot.

When she was 5 months old, I read her People magazine.  She would mostly drool and try to eat the pages.

In all seriousness though, I can't imagine it would matter what you were reading to a 5 month old.  I would think anything would be fine.

  • Haha, yeah I guess I don't really need 5-month-old-specific reading material, more like baby's first books type stuff! Thanks for all the suggestions so far.

  • For a two year old: Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, the Llama Llama series, Squish Rabbit, the Pout Pout Fish, Click Clack Moo, or Horsefly & Honeybee.

Fo an infant: First word books, touch and feel, photography books, or anything by Sandra Boynton.
