1st Trimester

All day nausea

I'm about 8 weeks pregnant and have been experiencing the dreaded morning sickness that lasts all day. I was wondering if anyone else has gone through this and what helped you get through it. I'm working a retail job and being this sick right before Christmas is unbearable. :(

Re: All day nausea

  • I was having nausea that lasted all day, so I asked my dr. about Zofran. It has helped quite a bit, but has caused constipation. Peppermint tea and peppermint gum has also helped.

  • I just replied to the other post (scared to eat) on this board...take a look and see if that's something that works for you. If you're vomiting severely you should definitely talk to your doctor, but if it's just constant nausea without vomiting try a few of the standard remedies (ginger, ginger ale, crackers, mints, small meals, etc) first and see how that goes.

  • I had extreme nausea & vomiting during weeks 8 & 9.  Zofran really helped me, however, I couldnt take it everyday because of the constipation. I was very fortunate that these weeks were during a time I could stay at home from work and rest.    My doctor recommended taking 25 mg of B6 three/four times a day, plus 1/2 tab of unisom at night. I really think this has helped my nausea/vomiting to improve greatly.  You will still need to graze on food throughout the day, which helps prevent that empty-stomach nausea.   I will be 12 weeks on Sunday, and hoping my nausea is almost over.
  • Thank you all for the advice. I haven't tried peppermint yet because that's usually not something I like but at this point, I'm desperate. My doctor gave me phenergan but all it really does is make me exhausted and still sick.
