I don't know, but if you find out let me know. I have had chronic UTIs since I was 3 years old.
Current pregnancy - First BFP on 1/4/22. Due date 9/13/22.
Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.
I was diagnosed with IC years ago and the dr always said pregnancy would be hell. But honestly... I drank so much water, it was BETTER during pregnancy. The uti symptoms never really showed. Water water water. Until you hate it. Then drink more. It sucks so badly, but you will feel like you were hit by a truck if you don't drink it.
I used to get them about 4 times a year too, so naturally I was concerned I'd continue to get them when I was pregnant the first time. I just tried to drink a lot of water and make sure I went pee frequently (no holding it) and I didn't get one during that pregnancy and 2 1/2 years later I have yet to get another one! So thankful I haven't had to experience one in so long. I still suck at drinking a lot of water, but I do better than I used to.
Try not to worry too much and just be mindful of drinking water like PP said. I think the lack of alcohol during and after pregnancy probably helped too!
I get them about once a year pre-pregnancy. I am 7w2d today and currently being treated for an UTI right now. I accept that not only were they common to me before getting PG but that they are fairly common for PG women (esp. in first tri) so I just accept it. The antibiotics are fine to take while PG as well as the two days on the pain pills are in drug class B so what's the issue?
My Urologist prescribed low dose Microdantin (Nitrofurantoin) take 1 after/before sex. I get them 2-3 times a year and I realized that was the cause of it but I don't always get them after every time.
Safe during pregnancy he advised me since I told him we were TTC soon, now I'm 8 wks. I take 1 when I feel like something is coming on. I haven't been to the OB/GYN yet, but I would discuss with your doctor first
Cranberry juice is what I usually use. You gotta get the pure over priced stuff though. It's terribly tart but it works. I mean this if you FEEL like you are getting one.
I get chronic uti's for the past ten years this year alone I had 1 each month for 5 months in a row. Knock on wood as soon as I got pregnant I havnt had one. I'm 6 months now.
I have chronic utis like pp said my bladder freaks out for the smallest thing now. Today I held it in for a whole 5 mind while cooking today and almost immediately felt one coming. When I feel one coming I drink water (like chug it) until I feel slightly sick. Then fill up the cup one more time, pop a cranberry pill or 2, and drink that last cup.
Other then that, my biggest advice would be to not hold in your pee, like ever. If there is any way you can make it to a bathroom go right away.

I used to get frequent UTI's until I started taking cranberry pills per a urologist's recommendation. It works wonderfully, especially when taking them before/after intercourse. Also, drink lots of water regularly and lay off carbonated beverages.
I'm not sure if it's advisable to use cranberry pills during pregnancy, though. But it wouldn't hurt to ask your doctor about them.
