Babies on the Brain

Pregnancy symptoms, or made up in my head?

I will start by saying that I am on oral birth control, which I take on time about 80% of the time(sometimes I forget). Roughly. It might be a little bit better than that. Or not. Lol. But I also take it continuously, so I don't have a regular cycle that I can put on a calendar.

Anyways, the last couple of weeks I noticed that my breasts have gotten much larger and feel so heavy/bouncy. My boyfriend even commented this past Saturday morning that they felt "large and swollen." They have also been fairly sore. That same day, I started bleeding randomly. Not normal period blood, it was bright red and a pretty light flow. At the heaviest point it looked like blood clots or something. After that is subsided. I just used a tampon for the day. This past weekend (Saturday night) I woke up in the middle of the night and thought I was going to throw up. I went to the bathroom several times but it never happened. I felt really queezy the next morning as well. My BF made biscuits and gravy and a few times I had to stop eating because I thought the puking feeling was coming back. BUT - I did finish my food.

I have been exhausted the last couple of weeks and its getting harder to wake up in the mornings and sometimes I just feel like a zombie to be honest. Coffee isn't even helping. I run and work out a lot so usually am ready to eat (A LOT lol)  but the last few weeks just have not been quite as interested in food. This morning I was trying to eat my usual oatmeal with peanut butter and honey and gagged a few times. I ended up not eating it. BUT - I did eat a donut at work (LOL) and i feel fine. Lunch is coming up but I am still not interested really.

I have had a cold for two weeks now that I cant kick, also. So the food aversion could maybe be that? Odd though that I have been sick so long because I VERY rarely get sick.

I also have been EXTREMELY emotional the last week weeks. I mean literally bawling when certain songs came on the radio. When I got sick I was at home watching a movie and literally started sobbing uncontrollably because I was tired and didn't feel good and something sad happened on the movie I was watching. I am really not that big of a wuss, I swear. Lol.

Anyways, I guess with all of this said I just don't feel like myself. And since I am on regular birth control with no period to mark on a calendar I am not sure when an appropriate time to take a pregnancy test is.

And I would like to add in - when I first started feeling SO emotional I took a pregnancy test within a week that came out negative. Could this have been false?

Thanks, ladies.

  • Take a test again.  If you're PG enough to have symptoms, you're PG enough to turn a test positive.

Your symptoms could be PMS.  Or a cold/flu/virus.  Or pregnancy.  Or holiday stress.  Only a test will tell you for sure.
  • My opinion is that it's all in your head, but then again, I'm not a pregnancy test so what do I know.

  • Take a test. Are you still taking your pills? I would say test once a week until you get your period, but I don't know how that would work on BCP. I would at least take your next placebo pills to see if you get your period instead of continuously taking them. It could all be in your head, it's been all in mine several times, or you could be pregnant. If you are not pregnant, maybe look into a new kind of birth control where it's not as reliant on you taking the pill every day so that you are protected. And maybe get a refresher from your doctor on how to double up pills after you miss and that if you miss several in a row you should use a condom.

  • You probably aren't pregnant. But take another test to be sure, that is he only way to know.

I had a hard time taking the pill on time, so I switched to the NuvaRing 4 years ago. You only have to worry about it once a month. Since you are having issues remembering, I would suggest getting on NuvaRing or IUD or Depo.

    What does this even mean?

You can't take the pill 80% of the time (wtf, by the way?  Either take it correctly or don't take it all), but take it "continuously."
    Overused, but so applicable:
