Maternity Pants Squishing Baby?

I got some "demi-panel" maternity pants from Gap and I feel like they are smashing the heck out of my lower abdomen and, since I'm carrying super low, my baby!  I have some "full-panel" ones that aren't as bad, but I bought two pairs of the demi's!  They fit everywhere else, so they're not just too small.  Anyone having this problem?  Should I try to take them back?

Re: Maternity Pants Squishing Baby?

  • You're baby is not squished in there. If they are uncomfortable to wear you could def try to exchange them for a different style or size.

  • I totally have this problem! I think I just need to buy a size bigger and get them hemmed (I'm pretty short).
  • Your baby won't be squished but if you're uncomfortable now I don't think it will get any better as your belly grows.
I had lots of people recommend the demi panels to me and I felt squished by it when I was super bloated. I ended up buying some full panel ones instead and am happier with them. My SIL gave me a handmedown pair of demi panel jeans and I certainly didn't refuse them but I wouldn't have paid for them myself.

  • I have the EXACT same problem. I have 1 pair of demi panel and I find they push on my belly quite a bit although the size up was much too big. I may just have to wear the full panel ones I have and hope I fill them out fast.

  • The demi panel pants were never comfortable for me, they put pressure on the wrong part of my tummy and I couldn't wear them. Full panel pants, however, are delightfully comfortable. It's like they are giving the baby a big ole' gentle hug. ;)

  • The demi panel pants are terrible.  I don't understand who wears them.  They are usually a tight band, right across the middle.  They won't hurt baby, but I hate them.

  • My first pair are Demi and I hate them. I feel like they make me have to pee even more... If that's humanly possible.
