Heartrate/Gender Curiosity

Just curious about the accuracy of the heartrate/gender theory with STMs+? Did you end up having the gender that the heartrate "predicted" or was it the opposite? I'm curious!

Re: Heartrate/Gender Curiosity

  • Always Above 140 from 6 weeks 4 days to 21 weeks 1 day, and baby is a girl.

  • I don't think there's a correlation, but for the record we're team pink, with a HB of 167 at 12wks.

  • Nope. Heartrate 186 at around 10 weeks. It's a boy. Somewhere around 145 now.

  • I'm having a girl and her heart rate was 174 at 8 weeks and 140 at 18 weeks. So...nope.
  • Don't remember the exact numbers, but we have been over 160 everytime and it's a girl

  • HR has more to do with gestational age than genitals. Also, even boys have prolonged accelerations greater that 140 all the time. Womp Womp

  • Thanks for the feedback! I've had a lot of people telling me we were having a girl based on the heartrate that I was starting to believe it myself, which I don't like. Just wanted to ask those with experience!
  • I don't know what the old wives tale says but if it helps I just had my A/S today we are having another boy and his heart rate was 142.

  • Nope. 120 at 6 w 165 at 12 and 145 at 20 w appointment with out little girl... It was all over the place not the typical "always high" girl heart rate
  • At my first appt with the Doppler, hb was 172 and OB predicted girl based on that. She must believe it somewhat but at the last appt it was 151 and she took back her prediction. We find out on 12/27.
  • I don't know what I'm having this time but my son was never below 150, usually in the 160s range.
  • My daughter's HR was always below 150. This baby is always around 160, we find out tomorrow if it's a boy or girl.

  • HR at first ultrasound was 155. Since, we have had 144 and 142. It's a girl.....everyone thought with a lower HR it might be a boy....

  • My sons heart rate was always in the 140s. So is this baby and it's a girl.
  • Our baby's bpm have always been over 150 and she is a girl.
  • I was a believer in the OWT that high HR=girl lower HR=boy since both my girls had higher HBs. So with this one, when the HB was high at my first few u/s I assumed girl. Nope, it's a boy. Apparently my kids just have higher HBs.

We are team girl heartrates. 8w and 11w 164 15w 156 and 19 w was 144 I dunno the theory of heart rates so u can decide if it was correct!

    Edit: correct date

  • Heart rates have ranged from 140-165 and it's a boy
  • I believe it says that above 140 is a girl and below 140 is a boy. LO was 140 last time so I didn't put much faith in it.

  • FTM here and just found out that I'm having a girl! Heart rate was 162 at 12 weeks then 153 at A/S :)
  • My first pregnancy had a "Boy" heart beat on all but one check up and infact I do have an amazing son. This pregnancy 3 checkups and two ultrasounds the heartbeat has been upper 150's/low 160's which is close to "girl" however the 20 week scan got a good picture of the goods and it is a little brother for DS. This baby is very active so that could keep the heartbeat higher.
  • Our first U/S he had a HR in the 170s. The 17th week ultrasound was 164. We're having a boy.
  • It was accurate 50% of the time for us.

With both it was over 150 and we have a girl and will have a boy

  • Hasn't been true for me. LO's HB was once as high as 174 and never goes below 150 and it's a boy! My friend who recently had a girl said she never went above 130. I think this is one of the less accurate OWTs.
