Sh*t Crunchy Pregnant Moms Say

https://mamanatural.com/shit-crunchy-pregnant-mamas-say/

I consider myself to be about 10 maybe 20% crunchy. Most of the "crunchy" things I do are becoming more mainstream (no CIO, co-sleeping, baby wearing etc)

But, anyways, whether you are crunchy or not this clip is pretty darn funny!

  • I just watched it again and I will be tandem nursing and plan on encapsulating my placenta. So there's my 10%  :))

  • I don't understand 80% of what is coming out of her mouth!
I don't consider myself crunchy at all although I do almost exclusively babywear, bed shared and co-slept , did baby led weaning, follow baby's sleep cues rather than a schedule, no CIO and I'm now an extended breast feeder if you count 13m! Do I need to rethink my crunchiness?

  • Is it sad that I understood 100% of what she said? Not all of it pertains to me though.

  • I can't get it to load, but I imagine my crunch level is about 1%. Never baby wore, bed shared, breast fed and I CIO.
A lot of that will be changing with this one, though.

  • Haha that's amazing.
I knew what most of it meant...but think most of it is ridiculous.

  • Honestly, I did some of those things and didn't even know they were things...

Someone once explained to me what BLW was (never knew) and I just always thought that was how you fed a baby... I never even knew it was a thing or a system.

Same way with no CIO.  It just never seemed right to me to let DS cry and cry. I remember learning it was bad back in undergrad, but then it wasn't even called "cry it out."  If nothing was wrong, my DS would settle usually down within a minute or two.  And if he kept on crying after that, it was because he was sick or teething or constipated or something.

I used the Moby wrap, too, when DS was very little (when he got older he wanted nothing to do with it), and didn't even know that it was called "baby wearing" or was a "thing."  I have an OB friend (she is older) who made herself a wrap/sling and used to have her babies with her when she would do exams and at the office...and this was back in the 80's.  I don't think she knew it was a "thing" either.  I just thought it was so you could get stuff done...

I now feel proud of myself that I was inadvertently...cool?

That IS how people fed their babies before packaged purees and blenders.

That's a lot of crunchy ;) throw in someone cloth diapers & you'd fit in quite nicely with my group (or without them!) lol.

  • Can someone sum it up? I don't have enough signal to watch videos. I never thought of myself as crunchy but my inlaws have referred to me as having hippy ways (I'm guessing they mean the crunchy aspect) because if baby wearing, CDs, bed sharing, BLW (though we had to switch to purées because the dr was trying to get more solids in him in hopes of helping reflux) and wanting to BF (which unfortunately didn't work out)
