I'm torn between thinking that's fantastic and not. If possible, I'd love to go part time, but I don't think I could handle not working right now. I'd drive myself insane.
All paid, as a nurse I am on preventative leave until I give birth (not because of complications just standard here) then my 1 year paid maternity leave.
I agree with the other ladies here - I'm jealous! My company is too small to require anything and has never had a pregnant employee, so there's nothing in place. The handbook says they will respect the FMLA, but it's a max of 12 weeks, unpaid. Seeing as I don't mind the cold or the snow, maybe I should ask my husband if he'd like a temporary move...
DH just told me this morning he needs two more months out of me and then I can stay home! It made me so excited, but I am definitely going to work as long as possible to try to help out. Long story short, CONGRATULATIONS!
@KimC85 I work in long term care geriatrics and rehab but here it applies to any nurse who doesn't have a desk job basically, I think ER, ICU and medicine floors get out even earlier. It is through CSST in Quebec, not sure where you are.
Gotta love Quebec.....sometimes. I am a waitress and have been put on csst since 16 weeks! I get 90% of my income (including tips) until my maternity leave kicks 4 weeks before my due date. I'm 25 weeks now, and though I'm happy to be getting paid to sit on my ass all day, it can get REALLY boring to the point I kind of wish I can still work part time.
I'm an L&D nurse...I will be holding legs and pushing with pts until I can stand no more. I want preventative leave...wah! Ok... Done crying now! Lucky Canadians!!
That's nice but seems a bit excessive....4 months prior to delivery?? People are working out hardcore (not me) and doing all sorts of crazy stuff up until delivery...it seems a little strange.
Maybe it's just the jealousy talking since I don't even get maternity leave!~
enjoy your time off!!

Jealous. But I'd be bored to death. I really liked working right up to the end- it was exciting to think, will today be the day? And it kept my mind off being nervous.

Glad to know my tax dollars are paying other people to get more leave then me...hahaha. Ce la vie....
I'm not sure where you're from or what you do for a living, but as a waitress in Quebec I've paid a shitload of taxes. When 70% of your pay goes to taxes every paycheck, you have zero benefits and at the end of the year you owe THEM money, I'd say it's about time some government money comes back to me when my dr says I'm not allowed to do my job!
