FET Thursday! Any advice?

Hi ladies! Super nervous for my FET on Thursday. I have all kinds of questions in my head....prob. silly ones but even though I know this is in God's hands, I want to be sure I am taking care of myself, etc.

I know the basics, like 24 hour bed rest, taking it easy for a week after, that sort of thing. But does bed rest mean, totally laying down, can I sit up in the bed? I'll have to get up that night to continue with my shots too.

What are some things I absolutely should NOT eat?

Should my seat in the car be laid back on my way home from the transfer?

I stand a lot with my job, should I make arrangements so that I don't have to stand a lot when I go back on Monday or will it be okay by then? I'm even worried about standing for our music time at church on Sunday! which is about 20 mins. long...ugh, I'm gonna be a pile of nerves I can see.

Wish I could do acupuncture but just don't have the money right now with all we are putting out for IVF!

Any other thoughts or calming words would be helpful!! Thanks ladies!

Re: FET Thursday! Any advice?

  • Honestly, don't overthink it too much. I was really nervous before our fresh transer and had a lot of similar questions but my nurse just told me to rest and take it easy that day and then I could go back to my normal daily activities (with the exceptions of no sex and no cardio). My doctor told me to act like I was pregnant after the transfer so no raw fish, lunch meat, etc.

Are you a teacher? You should definitely be fine by Monday, if you aren't comfortable see if you can sit for most of it but there's really no reason to. You don't need to be on bed rest until your beta. My transfer was a Friday and I was at my in laws for a post Thanksgiving party the next day

I just tried to stay busy, caught up on some books I wanted to read, did laundry, nothing crazy. Good luck on Thursday!

I've had 2 FETs and my doctor said I could continue my normal activities the following day, including exercise.  During an IVF cycle it's a little different, I was told no heavy lifting, sweating, etc. But FET has a lot less intensity surrounding it, as we are just preparing the womb for our little embie and hopefully it will snuggle in.

GL and FX for you! I'll be in that position a week from today! :)

  • For my FET I was told to take it easy that day and during the 2WW they said to limit exercise to things that aren't too strenuous (I just walked) and no sex.  But otherwise it was back to normal life.  I have a job that has me running around a lot and I even went to a concert a couple days after the transfer.  And although it turned out to be a CP, I did get a BFP that time.  Good luck!

  • I've always heard stay away from cold food/drinks because you want to keep bloodflow around your uterus and it sometimes makes it contract.
    Good luck!
