When did you have your baby shower?

Hello all!  I haven't posted much here, but I am hoping that I can get some advice.  I'm about 18 weeks pregnant with twins and my mother/aunt/friend are planning my baby shower.  The question is: when should it be?  We are looking at 3 dates, which range from the time I am 27 weeks to 29 weeks.  I feel like 27 weeks is so early since it isn't even the third trimester, but my mom is pushing for it just in case I deliver earlier than the planned c section date and in case I am too uncomfortable later or am put on bedrest (my OB is just a bit concerned I will deliver early, as my pre-pregnancy weight and size was pretty small at just over 100 pounds and 5'1").  I've heard that 29 weeks might be too uncomfortable with twins, but I feel like that might be a reasonable time to have a shower.  Any suggestions/advice is much appreciated!

I'll have mine this Sunday and I'll be 27 weeks! Currently hospitalized due to complications but the hospital is being really awesome about it and they're letting me sign a waiver for half a day to go to the shower! Our testing has gone really well and everything looks stable so I can go! But with twins or multiples it's a good idea to plan early. Anything could happen with a high risk pregnancy. Good luck!

My shower was at 29 weeks and I had to break 3 times to pee during the gift opening. I wouldn't do it any later than 29 weeks!!

Mine was at 26 weeks.  Do it as early as possible!!  I always recommend to have pretty much every thing done by 28 weeks just in case.  At 29 weeks, I was already on  hospital bed rest with a broken water.

I had my out of town shower very early like 22 weeks, I was traveling 10 hours for that one.  My local shower we did around 26 weeks. I felt great for both but traveling by far took so much out of me I think it took me 3 days to fully recover.

I would definitely agree with your mom...27 is the latest I would plan a shower with a HR pregnancy, especially multiples. Not to scare you, but a lot of MoMs who develop complications do so (or have signs of potential complications) mid-pregnancy, not just in 3rd tri. Do it early and have a back up date just in case.

Mine was scheduled for 26 weeks and I was on MBR by that point. I was able to go (it was at my neighbor's house across the street), but on strict orders to do nothing but sit for the whole thing.

I had mine at 24 weeks and so happy I did! I'm now 29 weeks and slowing down a lot, I'm glad I was able to wash all their clothes and get everything prepared before I started getting too exhausted to do it. I'd def recommend doing it as early as possible!

I had mine at 33 weeks, which was risky, but no dates in August worked for the hosts and me. Luckily, I felt fine, but I agree with the others that earlier is better.

Will you be traveling? Earlier the better in that case.

I didn't have a shower bc the twins are not my first, but I got increasing uncomfortable at 31+ weeks. It was exhausting to just get up, showered, and dressed each morning.

Mine was at 25 weeks, and, while I also thought that felt early, it's really a different ball game w/ multiples. I was really glad I had it then, b/c I could actually enjoy the party, and I had plenty of time for organizing gifts, washing clothes, and all that other stuff you have to do (and run out of energy for really fast...). I agree w/ PP that the earlier the better, and 27 weeks is definitely not too early!

Id say earlier is better, but 29 weeks is fine too. I had mine at 33 and I wish I had it sooner like yours, it's exhausting getting all the organizing done at that point!

We are having mine at 28 weeks. I would have liked to have it earlier but that pushes into the Holidays. I'm trying to have everything done by 28 weeks.

Mine was at 27w4d - and I felt great the entire time.  I feel pretty good now too at 31 weeks but it was nice to have the time to organize and get things set up and washed over the last few weeks. The holidays also played a part in how we scheduled mine - we wanted to do it before things got too crazy busy for everyone.

Mine was at 30 weeks. I felt fine but wish it was sooner. I'd schedule it sooner rather than later. You don't know what complications could suddenly arise.

I had one already at 22 weeks. I was traveling to visit my husband's family for Thanksgiving, and we won't be out that way again until after the babies are born. Our friends and family wanted to go ahead and do it. I was plenty big to satisfy all of the belly rubbing, and feeling so good that I had a really great time. We will be having two others, too. One will be with my family when I am 27 weeks (which will be over the holidays and require a 5 hour drive) and one with our friends in the city we live in now, which won't be until I am 32 weeks. That last one is too late for comfort, but we will have A LOT of stuff already, and will have been able to begin the organizing weeks earlier.

I had mine at 27 weeks and it was perfect timing. Bump was big enough to show off but I wasn't too uncomfortable yet and had energy to sort/put away the gifts in subsequent days.

I had 2 planned.... one from my mom's side and one from my MIL's side.

 

My mom had hers for me at 23 weeks and we thought she was kind of odd for having it so early. BUT.... I had premature preterm rupture of the membranes with a water break at 26 weeks and have been on hospital bed rest every since. (I am 27 weeks today)

My MIL has hers planned for this coming weekend at 28 weeks but it isn't looking like I will be able to attend that one!

I wanted mine early.  The earliest I could get it was 29 weeks and that was with me really pushing my family to do it early.  I delivered the week after.  So far I get a lot of "you were rights" when it comes to my body, these babies, and now children.  Seems like I get a lot of push back along the way but then they decide maybe it was the best decision.

I had mine at 30 weeks. I was admitted to the hospital at 30w2d and had my twins at 30w4d--a previously uncomplicated pregnancy. I vote sooner rather than later.

We decided on having the shower when I am 27 weeks.  THANK you everyone!  After reading all this, I was sure that sooner was better.  Better safe than sorry
