Another Merlin's Magic Sleepsuit question

I bought one for my LO, I had such high hopes and it was a big fat fail. She went to sleep fine, but was up 3 hours later, then every one to two hours throughout the night. I don't even know how many times she was up. She's also below the weight recommendation for it, and her feet can slip inside the body of the suit, so I think it may have been too roomy for her. For those of you who tried it, did it work the first night or did it take you LO some getting used to? Do you think it will work better when she's bigger? She's 15 weeks now and swaddling is still going okay, so maybe it's just too early?

Re: Another Merlin's Magic Sleepsuit question

  • I would use it once you can no longer swaddle. I used it once my lo started rolling back to front, bc he could roll in the swaddle and a regular sleeper but can't roll in the sleepsuit.

That was us a few weeks ago. We had to wait until the swaddle pretty much wasn't a option anymore. My LO sleeps pretty well in it now- but really struggled a few weeks ago.
I would just continue to swaddle a few more weeks if possible.

It takes a couple of nights for them to get used to it. It's magic but it isn't a miracle. ;)

  • How much does your LO weigh? We just ordered one and he's probably around 11 pounds by my estimate,. I'm a little worried he'll be too small too...

  • @NikkiD522 my LO is about 11 lbs as well and the tag says 13-18 pounds. She's very squirmy and I kept having to pull her legs back out of the feet holes as they were up in the body cavity or both in one leg hole. I'm worried she could suffocate if her face goes into the suit as well.

  • @pkaren I wonder if having your LO in a sleeper would help? Or did you already do that? Or would that be too warm? I guess I can answer these questions when I get it huh lol. Now you have me worrying about him suffocating :-/

  • DS's feet slipped inside at first, and he would get his foot wedged in the leg hole weird and wake himself up, so I cuffed the legs on it so his feet would stick out. Haven't had any issues since. I also started him out in a onesie in it because I thought he'd be too warm, but now that it has cooled off he gets cold and has been wearing a fleece sleeper under it.

Genius! Why didn't I think of that! I only had her in a onsie t-shirt, but I'll try it with a light footed sleeper next time.

I think we've hit the dreaded 4 mo sleep regression, so I don't think anything would help right now! But it can't make things worse at this point!

  • I put Layla in a cotton footed sleeper underneath the Sleepsuit. The fleece is too warm in my opinion. I also put most on her hands because they end up getting ice cold if I don't.
  • So my magic sleep suit got lost in the mail... I even chose overnight delivery due to my desperation lol... I feel like we're not starting this relationship off right

Oh no!! That sucks! I was really looking forward to getting mine, but it was definitely not as magical as I was hoping. I hope it works better for you than it did for us!
