Benadryl

I took Benadryl last night to try and combat my PUPPs itching and lack of sleep. I was really worried it would make my lo really sleepy, and I wouldn't feel him. It had the totally opposite affect on him! Every time I woke up last night, he was moving around. It doesn't seem like he slept at all! Has anyone else noticed this when they have taken Benadryl? I feel bad for the poor little guy....

I know my mom said it made me hyper as a kid. Now not so much thankfully.

It usually knocks me out!   My LO is very active, so I don't think I've noticed any changes (while I am awake)

I have not had that experience but I know that my hubby cannot take Benadryl because it makes his heart race like crazy.  Some people just have the opposite reaction to Benadryl and maybe your LO is one of those people.

I've taken Benedryl this entire pregnancy to sleep and haven't noticed an effect on LO either way. Anyone can react differently to meds though so maybe it makes your LO more awake.

Something like 20% of children have a reverse reaction to benadryl, where it can make them hyper. I am not sure if it is true in utero though.
