Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Could my 3 month old be teething this early?

My daughter has started chewing on her hands a lot lately & I don't think she's hungry cause she'll do it even after she eats. There's so much DROOL! I gave her the paci today and she tried to stick her hand in her mouth even with the paci in her mouth. LOL.

Could she be teething early?

  • My son totally started doing the exact same thing around 3 months but still waiting for teeth at 5.5 months. I think that's also very common for babies that age to suck on their hands, it's a self soothing thing.

  • Hahaha my daughter does all that too. Plus she chews while nursing. I hear it's common though. In Germany, babies used to be called lazy if they didn't start teething at 3 months.

  • My son started teething at 3 months and got two teeth shortly after! Chewing on stuff and drooling are major signs of teething!

  • Wow, that's crazy. I didn't know they could start teething that early. Thank you ladies so much! and @csgtv i will def look into those mitten (:

I also heard that they could've just discovered their hands.
  • To help with the drooling and discomfort of teething, look into getting an amber bead necklace. I know so many moms who swear by them and I will be doing it with my daughter when she starts teething. Good luck!

  • It's not completely unheard of for babies to be born WITH teeth.  Terrifying huh?  So, yes your LO could be teething at 3 months.

DD had her 2 month appt today (she's 10 weeks) and the nurse noticed a white spot on her gums. Explains a lot!!
