So I need a new car mine broke down and it's not worth it to fix it. I was wondering what you drive and what you like about it. I live in in mn so I need an SUV with AWD any suggestions? Thanks
I've got a 2011 Nissan Pathfinder. I love the look and drive of it, but it really isn't awesome for kids (for a bigger SUV, the backseat really sucks!!) I've heard the new (2013 +) model has a bigger backseat, they resist be the whole thing and made it more of a crossover and less like a truck.
Chevy Blazer. Super reliable and cheap as hell to fix since parts are so easy to come by. It does well in the snow, I wouldn't take it up a mountain or anything but its good for around town.
Another vote for the Ford Escape! We got it right after B was born- it is awesome- plenty of room and it drives really nice. We have AWD- I live in ohio an we get some rough lake effect snow. Took it out in the snow over the weekend- handled great!!
I'm another nissan rogue! I love this car so much that I traded in my BMW X3 for it. Best decision I ever made. The only downfall is that the car seat can't go in the middle. DH has a Murano and loves it too.
Honda pilot. I love it but it does use a lot of gas. I had a crv before but I wanted a bigger car after ds1 was born as I felt it would be safer if I was in a car accident.
Jeep commander. I need a car with 7 seats for my family. I also like that it doesn't look like a total mommy car. I do not personally like mini vans. It is a 4 wheel drive but I haven't tried it in the snow yet.

Sorry to quote..only way it will let me type right now...
Ford explorer and I love it!! It's roomy, fits the stroller etc and best part, it seats 7! So, when we go to dinner with my parents or in laws, we can all ride together
Another Honda CRV. I love it except it was really hard to fit the infant seat in. It had to go behind the passenger seat which now has to be slid almost completely forward. DH can't fit in the passenger side now so when the 3 of us go anywhere, he HAS to drive the entire time or else sit in the back which is also not that great because he's super tall.
I used to have a CR-V and loved it with mikayla. I'd probably still love it with Riley too. But I turned it in (leased) and bought a used Moutaineer. It's ok for two kids and has a third row and all, but with both car seats installed you can only get into the back row through the trunk. And even then only one person can get in bc the other seat is down.
We want a third kid eventually so ill be getting rid of it. Ill say it, I want a minivan! It's just so much more convenient with more than one kid. I'm a dork I suppose
GMC Terrain and honestly I don't really love it. Last week was the first time we used it for a road trip with both kids and it just wasn't enough room. Confirmed we need to upgrade to a 3rd row SUV sometime soon. I am leaning towards a Buick Enclave.
I had a Subaru Forester when I lived in Colorado several years ago and it was awesome in the snow but that isn't a concern of ours now.
Sequoia, I like it since it can fit everyone when the step kids are with us. I've also had a Pathfinder and liked that as well. Both have handled the snow well (I live in northern MD, so heavy snow is not a frequent issue).
I drive a CR-V. We are in CO and drive mountains all the time, snow or sun and it has been great. We have the Chicco Keyfit 30, and it is currently in the middle seat, but I have put 2 carseats in the back with no problem.
The only thing I don't like is how fast I feel the inside got scratches, but other then that I love it.
2009 Hyundai Santa Fe. I love it and it's awesome in the winter. It's also really affordable. I have it with the car starter, and living in NY I need it.
DH drives a Mitsubishi Rallyart and it's a POS! Hate his car. It's broken down way too many times.
ETA: The trunk is huge. It easily fits DD's City Elite stroller along with luggage. To give reference, it easily fits DH's hockey goalie bag which you could fit a body in! And it fits the baby bucket fine, not sure yet about a convertible.
MH used to have a Rallyart!!! I hated that car too!! It didn't last that long. We both drive VW GTI's now. Not a kid friendly car b/c of it's size, but I love driving it.
If we got a SUV it would probably be the VW Tiguan.
Re: What kind of car do you drive?
Love toyotas!! They hold their value. I get decent had millage. Its roomy and easy to drive.
I've got 3 kids though and need a bigger suv. I'm thinking about getting asequia.
