Intro & a question (DD mentioned)

I don't think I've ever officially introduced myself to a new board so here it goes.. I'm Michelle, married for three and a half years with a little girl who will be two in Feb. I would've been due with her brother or sister in April but found out at 8 weeks I lost the baby. That was about two months ago and even though I'm just now thinking about wanting to try again, I'm so scared it's going to happen again.
My sisters and I have a gene mutation that doesn't allow us to absorb folic acid very well called MTHFR so we usually have to take large amounts of folate to keep a pregnancy. My older sister has had three m/c, one in between each of her three kids. How/when did you feel ready to try again? I really worry that I won't be able to have another or if I can go through another m/c if it happens.

    I'm sorry for your losses and that you find yourself here. I hope you did peace and comfort in this community. I had a miscarriage in October and we deem TTC for 4 years so tried again as soon as the doc cleared us (1 cycle). I don't have any knowledge of the condition you mentioned but I believe I read it on the blog so you may want to check thy out. (Lots of good info there anyway).

    I'm so sorry for your loss and that you find yourself here.

    I've also got the MTHFR gene and my MFM who although doesn't believe that it causes losses has chosen to treat it anyway using baby aspirin and extra folic acid.

    As for when to start trying again. Everyone here is different in how long it takes them to feel ready again - usually, the opinion though is that when we feel that the desire to have a baby outweighs the fear of losing another one then we are ready.

    BFP #2 1/28/14--MC 2/7/14
    IUI #1 5mg Femara + trigger = BFN
    IUI #2 5mg Femara + trigger = BFN
    IUI #3 5mg Femara + trigger = BFN
    IVF #1, Stimmed for 12 days, ER 8/22/14, 9 retrieved, 7M, 7F!!  Freeze all due to fluid in uterus.
    FET end of October 2014 cancelled due to fluid in uterus due to possible c-scar defect
    Surgery scheduled 12/12/14 to fix possible isthmocele
    3/26/15 transferred one 8 cell grade 4 embryo and one 6 cell grade 3 embryo = slow rising betas for 2+ weeks = ectopic MTX shot 4/29/15
    Repeat c-scar surgery June 2015
    2nd and last IVF cycle August 2015, stimmed for 12 days, 2 egg retrieved, both mature and both fertilized.  Transferred both 8-cell embryos on Day 3, beta 9/5/15 = BFFN
    MOVING TO ADOPTION!

    so sorry for your loss. I also have 1 copy of the MTHFR gene. my Dr does not believe that having the 1specific copy that I have is related to my losses but I do understand the fear of trying again. welcome to the board

    4 Losses (2003, 2008, Apr 2012, & Oct 2012)
    All RPL and IF testing with multiple REs = normal

    5 IUIs = BFN

    I also have a DD who will be 2 in February. We don't talk much about living children here on TTCAL out of respect for those whom it may hurt, but if you ever want to talk about her in relation to TTCAL, please PM me.
    This is so very, very true.  

    OP, we are currently in the midst of our 3rd loss, but both DH and I are bound and determined we will do all we can to have a 2nd child.  Are we scared of having more losses? Of course!  (Actually, we assume that's a given at this point).  But we are willing to risk more pain and anguish to try and make our dreams come true... For us, it would hurt much more to give up the dream and stop trying.  

    That said, being PGAL is terrifying.  I can't tell you it isn't.  Don't try until you are ready to face that fear and anxiety. Give yourself as much time as you need to heal.

    I'm so sorry for you loss. Trying again is scary, but I feel like if my journey to motherhood is more of a marathon than a sprint, than so be it because I'm willing to fight for a baby. We were originaly told one cycle, then had complications for the D&C that delayed us two cycles. I hope your stay here is short and sweet. (((Hugs)))

    Me 34 DH 31, Together since 2003, Married August 20, 2011,  TTC since May 2013
    BFP #1 August 24, 2013! MMC discovered Oct. 3, 2013, D&C Oct. 4, 2013
    BFP #2 December 17, 2013! MMC discovered Jan. 28, 2014, D&C Jan. 30, 2014
    Testing done: male with complete Trisomy 16, not hereditary. Tested me for clotting disorders, all normal.
    Feb. 2014 all clear again to TTC!  Will start progesterone supplementation with the next BFP just in case.       Oct. 2014 more testing just because, thyroid and autoimmune panels = normal.  Diagnostic U/S = no abnormalities.  Will keep trying for 3-6 more months, doctor still optimistic!

    BFP #3 December 11, 2014!  Beta #1 14DPO = 122.4 Beta #2 17DPO = 296.8 Please stick little one and be our Rainbow!

            Perfect little heartbeat of 156 seen 1/7/15 :)

    Welcome to the board! I'm very sorry for your loss. I agree with the other ladies here - it's scary. DH and I have been given the go ahead to try again. Am I nervous yes, but my hope and excitement for a family someday outweigh it. Best of luck!

    I am so sorry for you loss and that you have found yourself here. I hope you are able to get past your fear and begin your TTCAL journey. I know it can be scary, heck, I am scared and I'm not cleared to try again yet. I can only imagine what it is for you. ((Hugs)) to you and I hope your stay is short and sweet.
