Who is going and what are you shopping for?
Our little downtown area is always fun to shop in. Volunteer Santas will cruise the streets for shoppers to take silly photos with. Most stores have free edibles and cider or hot chocolate. One empty building is set up as a store for children to buy inexpensive gifts for their family and the proceeds go to charity.
I plan on getting some school spirit wear for DD, model car kits for DS1 and train set accessories for DS2. They have discounted gift card packages available that I want to check out. One includes gift cards to our little movie theater, bowling alley and coffee/dessert shop. I either get a discounted price or good coupons. I thought it'd be a fun gift for DD. She can go down there and hang out with a friend for a few hours.
Everyone try to get out and visit a local small business even for a tiny purchase. Every little bit of support helps!
Re: Small Business Saturday
I always go help my local hairdresser decorate her shop for Christmas (she and my mom also happen to be best friends.)
It stinks that some of you don't have a good selection of small businesses. My town isn't big at all and we have a good variety of shops. It's definitely not easy to run a small business and our community had to put in a lot of effort to keep our downtown area alive. We have 6 bars and 2 wine cellars within a minute walk. We know what's important;)
