DD is 4 months old and still has 10 or more nursing sessions per day. I have returned to work, so she also receives expressed breast milk about every 3 hours when I'm away. She's fed on demand. She also wakes up every 2-4 hours at night to feed. She has been diagnosed with reflux, but is on medication.
I am not complaining. I actually enjoy nursing and hope to continue for at least a year. I just find this odd. As a FTM, I thought babies started spacing out their feeds by now. She is a fast nurser (about 5 min usually) and has never taken more than 4 oz from a bottle.
Mine is 4 months and does the same. I figured it was normal. He is on the small side and I read sometimes small babies eat more often. IMO I wouldn't sweat it.
When you've been married this long, you need a ticker to remind you.
DD nursed every 3 hours until 8 months old, day and night. At 8 months she started dropping night feedings. Then she started eating more solids and spaced out nursing sessions during the day.
I'm confused...what's the problem? It's completely normal for BF babies to eat every 2-3 hours..with maybe one longer stretch at night of 4-5 hours.
My LO nursed every 1.5-2 hours during the day until she was 7mo old. At night, she ate at 9pm, 2am, 5am, and 7am until around 6mo, when she started just nursing before bed around 8 and at 3am (then 6 or 7).
It sounds fairly normal...
I thought it wasn't normal at this age to nurse that frequently. I am thankful for all these responses. She is still up every 2-3 hours for night feedings. In glad to know other babies are the same.
The paper I received from the pedi at her 4mo appt said most babies nurse 6-8 times a day at this point and we are nowhere near that low number so I was concerned.
