progesterone vaginal capsules

I'm currently in my 2ww and taking progesterone I've been really nauseous since being on this is this a side effect of the medicine?has anyone else experienced this while being on it.

TTC since 2012

Dx : DOR

IUI #1 (Follistim switched over to Menopur injections) - BFN

Attempted IUI #2 (Menopur injections only cycle) better response on the Menopur then the Follistim combination treatment cycle however my cycle was still canceled due to my eggs not maturing and follicles not growing enough on a high dose of Menopur (Re said I could try a cycle of comid + ovidrel  for an IUI) for my second IUI( praying this works for us)

Clomid + Ovidrel protocol worked still a BFN as a result

Attempted cycle  Clomid  + Ovidrel protocol for IUI # 3 (Unable to do this cycle due to a cyst)

IUI # 3 Clomid+ Ovidrel protocol - BFP    Beta #1 752  Beta #2  1536    Beta #3 3797

Re: progesterone vaginal capsules

  • No nausea for me, maybe that's a good sign for u! FX... I was taking them orally at first and I was so dizzy so I switched to vaginally. Contact your RE if anything.
  • Progesterone sometimes makes me a little nauseous too. Along with the sore boobs, moodiness, fatigue... it's basically all the phantom symptoms in their full glory. Hang in there.

The same thing happened to me. They made me so dizzy my Dr. had me take them vaginally. I don't remember feeling nauseous though, just really dizzy like I was super drunk.

  • I'm in my 2WW too. I have all the same symptoms too. Nausea, a little more each day, my boobs have never hurt more! I have to say, reading that all of you have/had the same symptoms is helping bringing me down to earth. FX for you! Remember ginger ale is a girls best friend!
Me: 33 - PCOS & Hypothyroidism DH: 35 - SA is good Married since 2010 (together since 2006) TTC since June 2009 (we knew we would have issues and wanted family right away after we got married). No pregnancies yet. May 2013 - started first round of Chlomid & ovidrel cycle.
  • I had those same symptoms. It all side effects of the progesterone. Progesterone is the tww from hell because it mimics pregnancy symptoms. Sorry your feeling sick. Ginger ale does help. FX'd and GL that this is it for you.

  • Gracious, yes.  I have a love/hate relationship with progesterone suppositories.  They make me nauseous, plus all the other early pregnancy symptoms.  I was so nauseous last month, that DH had to get me some ginger ale.  It can definitely play mind games with you during your 2WW, but hang in there!  FX that this is it for you!

  • Thanks everyone that's what I thought just didn't experience the nausea during my first IUI. Currently today I'm 7dpiui I know it's too early to test but I tested anyway yesterday of course that was a bfn. No more testing for me till 10dpiui. Not feeling very optimistic. Trying to be but having a hard time. It's such a long shot with me with these IUI's, however, my only shot because my RE said I'm not a candidate for IVF anymore which sucks.

I'm taking progesterone this cycle and it is making me super nauseous, too.  It's been tough!  It has lessened over the past couple days (I'm on day 8 now) - it was so bad the first couple days.  It's been giving me bad cramps, too, and making my boobs very sore.  So fun all around ;) It really does make the 2ww hard! Sorry to hear you're also experiencing the joy of nausea.

ETA: I don't normally hang out on this board, but I saw the progesterone topic and wanted to contribute.

I'm so sorry you are having a hard time. I hope this one works for you, I will keep you in my prayers and my fx.
I'm curious, When can you test if you didn't test out the trigger? I'm 9dpiui and 11dptrigger. I don't think I can wait until Friday for my next bloodwork/ultrasound appointment. If its Better to wait i will, I'm afraid to get a false response if I test too early.

  • I'm doing vaginal progesterone supps this month as well.  I am 10 dpiui & had some nausea but not too bad.  I usually decide to test at home rather than go in for my beta but I'll be testing at my RE's this month as I do not want to be on this any longer than necessary!
