TTC After a Loss

TTC after hysteroscopy?

Hi ladies,

I've posted on this board a bit, but I haven't been around lately. I had a loss in Aug. 2012 and another in Oct. 2013. My husband and I are now seeing a RE, and I had a hysteroscopy and biopsy done today, as well as blood work. I meant to ask the doctor how long we should wait to starting having sex again, and if we are okay to TTC this month, but I totally forgot by the time the procedure was done.

I didn't have anything removed (other than the biopsy), and the doctor said my uterus looked normal. I've had some bleeding and cramping this evening, but nothing too bad. I'll call the doctor tomorrow to follow-up, but I just thought I'd see what advice others were given following a hysteroscopy?

Thanks!

Re: TTC after hysteroscopy?

  • I've only had a hysteroscopy along with surgery and was told to wait weeks. It doesn't really matter what our doctors told us, you should do whatever your doctor says.

  • With having a biopsy, he may want you to wait for the results of that to come back at minimum. Update us when you find out what he advises.

  • I was told to wait two weeks before doing anything. But we are able to do an IUI next cycle. I also had to schedule a 2wk post op appt, which he said we could cancel once we found out everything was normal. I would call your dr and find out what he recommends.

  • Can you call your doctor and ask?

I know I was told I'd need to wait 6 weeks but I'm having adhesions and a septum removed so it's a little different. Also, if I were in your shoes, I'd wait to get the results of the biopsy before proceeding.

    Best of luck.
  • Depends on the dr and what you're having done. My first 2 we're fibroid removal and I had to wait 2 weeks to have sex or use tampons. This last one was with a different dr and she removed retained products so no cutting into muscle, she said minimum 3 days or until spotting stopped if that lasted longer than 3 days. I'd hold off until you get in touch with your dr.

  • Thanks for the input ladies. I called the doctor's office today, and the front office folks ask the doctor for me, and she said we don't need to wait to have sex or to TTC. I'm a little conflicted about TTC this month since we probably won't have all the blood work from the RPL panel or the results from the biopsy back for a few weeks. In our consult the doctor said if I got pregnant before we did the tests, then they'd just put me on a few things as a precaution. I guess we'll just see how this month goes and how we're feeling when ovulation gets closer.
